Ugly Fish
Ugly Fish[note 1] is a minor character in Undertale. He is a patron of Grillby's, and he sits at the front table next to Red Bird.
Ugly Fish is a balding peach-colored fish with red lips. He wears a green tank top and brown pants. His eyes are constantly closed, and black hairs are present throughout his body.
Ugly Fish longs for a girlfriend and resorts to unconventional methods as a means of "getting" one. He is responsible for the fishing rod seen in an earlier area in Snowdin with his number attached to the hook, but at some point later in the True Pacifist Route, he gives up and removes the number.
Ugly Fish explains that he is trying to get a girlfriend by literally fishing for one. When talking to him again, he ponders asking out Undyne before dismissing the idea. Following the protagonist's hangout with Sans, Ugly Fish remarks that Sans has not been showing up at Grillby's as often as usual despite being Grillby's most commom regular. Following the battle against Undyne, Ugly Fish wonders if he has caught anyone yet.
If Papyrus is killed, Ugly Fish complains about Sans's disappearance because Sans offered him some bait, although it was probably just a prank.[3]
During the True Pacifist Route epilogue, Ugly Fish laments that he never caught anyone with his fishing rod and warns the protagonist not to do what he did.
The "Grillby's Rogues' Gallery" on Fangamer provides more information on Ugly Fish. Known as Fish[4] (JP: フィッシュ), he has attempted to "get" girlfriends using harmless animal traps.[5] When detailing his plans to Grillby, he takes his silence as affirmative.
