Elder Puzzler
Elder Puzzler,[2] or Puzzle Guy,[3] is a minor character in Undertale. They are an old-fashioned puzzle-creator whose craft is well-respected by Papyrus.[2]
Elder Puzzler is a monster with brown skin, and a large, dome-like head. They appear to have several limbs, and wear green clothing. They have a white horn coming out of one side of their head, and white markings on the bottom of their head, resembling facial hair. They have a frowning, angry expression, with thick eyebrows, and with one square-like tooth poking out of their mouth.
Elder Puzzler is a cynical, aging monster that expresses their resentment of the puzzles of today. They seem to lack faith in the modern generation's approach to puzzles, and won't give the protagonist a chance, no matter how they approach their box puzzle.
After the protagonist defeats Undyne, Elder Puzzler can be found near the end of Waterfall. They have a box puzzle for the protagonist to do, and express that there is still hope for the protagonist, as they are young. However, no matter how the puzzle is interacted with, Elder Puzzler will stop the protagonist, displeased with their method.
In the True Pacifist Route's epilogue, they do not believe the protagonist about the monsters being free. If spoken to again, they ask if humans could appreciate the details of classic puzzles.
Elder Puzzler was created as a guest NPC by Summer Wine.[3]
- Elder Puzzler's appearance is similar to that of a Goomba from the Super Mario Bros. series.
