Echo Flower Explainer
Echo Flower Explainer is a minor character in Undertale. They are found in Waterfall, and provide information on how Echo Flowers work.
Echo Flower Explainer is an orange fish-like monster wearing a blue shirt with an orange fish on it. They stand on their back fin. Their eyes are fully black, and their smile is blue.
Echo Flower Explainer makes it their duty to explain Echo Flowers, and tells them their secret. When an Echo Flower reveals the secret, they lose trust in flowers.
Echo Flower Explain stands next to the first-encountered Echo Flower in Waterfall. They explain how Echo Flowers repeat the last thing they heard.[1]
If the protagonist speaks to the Echo Flower first, the flower repeats an earlier statement made by Echo Flower Explainer, revealing that their only source of life validation is giving explanations on the Echo Flower.[2] When talking to them after the Echo Flower says this, they say "Never trust a flower", implying their embarrassment and resentment at being outed for what they feel is their sole purpose in life. They also state that mistrusting flowers is "one of the constants of this world", which could be a possible allusion to Flowey.
If the protagonist has continued the Genocide Route until at least killing Papyrus, Echo Flower Explainer does not appear, and the Echo Flower remains silent.[3][4]
