Another Medium is the 51st track in the UNDERTALE Soundtrack. This atmospheric techno track plays while traversing the majority of Hotland. It plays at 0.5x speed during the Genocide Route.

Creation and development

Another Medium was inspired by Toby Fox's unfinished remix, Patient, which contains the Doctor motif from Homestuck. He states that he may not use the Doctor motif in the future since the track's creator passed away.^[1]^[2]^[3] It can be presumed that the name "Another Medium" may be a reference to The Medium in Homestuck because of this.

It was directly mentioned in an interview with Toby, as one of the songs originally composed for other projects. The others being Fallen Down, Ghost Fight, Heartache, sans., Nyeh Heh Heh!, Bonetrousle, and MEGALOVANIA.^[4]^[5]

Trivia

The song seems to use drums from Cave Story, specifically the snare, bass, and toms.

↑ This song wasn't made for Undertale either. It (and bonetrousle) were the main battle themes of an RPG game I was working on before Undertale, based off a dream I had. However, I didn't plan it very well, so the project fell apart before I accomplished a single room. "Sans" was also a song in the game called "Muscles," and "Heartache" was a song called "Joker Battle." Anyway, I always mess up playing this song on the piano, so if you can't play it, it's not a big deal.
