Battle Against a True Hero
You're gonna have to try a little harder than THAT.
Battle Against a True Hero is the 98th track in the UNDERTALE Soundtrack. This track plays during the fight with Undyne the Undying during the Genocide Route.
- The title is a play on the fan titles of battle music from the Mother series, while the latter part of the music references the Touhou series of video games.
- The beginning melody is later reused in Power of "NEO" and, by extension, BIG SHOT from Chapter 2 of Deltarune. The beginning melody sounds similar to Versus, a Homestuck song.
- Toby Fox, collaborating with ZUN, the creator of Touhou Project, later produced an arrangement piece titled U.N. Owen Was Hero?. It is a mashup of Battle Against a True Hero arranged by ZUN, and U.N. Owen Was Her? arranged by Toby.[1]
- The "True Hero" referenced in the track name is likely describing Undyne the Undying rather than the protagonist, as she is portrayed as the last hope for monsterkind on the Genocide Route.
