Once Upon a Time
Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.
Opening cutscene
Once Upon a Time is the 1st track in the UNDERTALE Soundtrack and in the Undertale Demo OST. It plays during the introduction sequence of the game on every launch. The track's opening is the primary leitmotif of the game.
This track also makes a brief appearance after the game is forcibly closed prior to the battle with Omega Flowey. Upon relaunch, the track plays normally while an altered version of the original introduction sequence is shown before getting "stuck".
- Like many of the tracks in Undertale, this track is stored at 100/91 (1.(098901)x, 9.(890109)% increased) speed in the game's files. To normalize this, the game plays it at 91% (9% reduced) speed. However, unlike other tracks, the OST version has a half a semitone lower pitch compared to the version heard in-game. In the Undertale Demo OST, it plays at the in-game speed.
- A modified version of this track is used at the beginning of the game's release trailer.
- This track is inspired by the track Mother Earth from Mother 1 / EarthBound Beginnings.[1][2]

This song was created as an homage to the title music to MOTHER, eventually released in the US as Earthbound Beginnings.
