User:EmbryoYall/Fun events

From Undertale Wiki

At the beginning of the game, a random number between 1 and 100 is chosen. This number, which in the game data is flag[5], is known as the "fun value," and different values can cause different events to occur. Most notably, the Gaster NPCs can only be encountered when the fun value is within a certain set of values. If the value is 1, 51-55, 58-60, 64, 67-79, or 90, no fun event will occur. This means that there is exactly a 24% chance no fun event will occur, and a 76% chance that one will.

Phone Calls

The player will receive one of three different phone calls if the fun value is set anywhere from 2 to 50.

Wrong Number Song Call

If the fun value is from 2 to 39, the Asriel fight has not yet been completed, the player has not yet received the call, and if the plot value is less than 120 (the point where Monster Kid runs off screen after you save him has not yet occurred), the player will receive a phone call in room_tundra_dock (70), which is the dock north of Snowdin.

  • (Ring... ring...)
  • Hello!
  • Can I speak to G...
  • ...
  • Wait a second.
  • Is this the wrong number?
  • Oh it's the wrong number!
  • The wrong number song!
  • We're very very sorry that we got it wrong!

The "G..." that the caller was apparently trying to speak to has been speculated to be Gaster, but it could just as well be Gerson, Glyde, Grillby, Gyftrot, or Greater Dog.

Sans' Refrigerator Call

If the fun value is from 40 to 45, the Asriel fight has not yet been completed, the player has not yet received the call, and if the plot value is less than 120 (the point where Monster Kid runs off screen after you save him has not yet occurred), the player will receive a phone call from Sans in room_tundra4 (48), the room with Papyrus' guard station, directly east of the first save point in Snowdin Forest and directly west of the Doggo encounter.

  • (Ring... ring...)
  • hey.
  • is your refrigerator running?

Alphys' Pizza Call

If the fun value is from 46 to 50, the Asriel fight has not yet been completed, the player has not yet received the call, and if the plot value is less than 120 (the point where Monster Kid runs off screen after you save him has not yet occurred), the player will receive a phone call from Alphys in room_tundra4 (48), the room with Papyrus' guard station, directly east of the first save point in Snowdin Forest and directly west of the Doggo encounter.

  • (Ring... ring...)
  • U-uhhh...
  • (Oh my god, help...)
  • I'd like to order a...
  • Um...
  • A pizza...?
  • With, uhh...
  • The toppings are, uh...
  • I have them copied, I'll just paste them to you.
  • (Your phone is too old to receive texts...)

Monster Kidz Word Search screenshot Nightmare.png

If the fun value is 56 or 57, the word search in room_tundra9 (55), the room directly west of the spaghetti save point and southeast of the room with the snow-golf minigame, will be in "Nightmare Mode." The contents of the word search will remain unchanged, but a second character, a snowman called "Nightmare," appears on the right side of the page.

Gaster Followers

The player has a chance of encountering one of the three Gaster Followers if the fun value is from 61-63.

Gaster Follower A

If the fun value is 61, the player has a 20% chance of encountering the NPC gaster_follower_a in room_fire_elevator_r1 (156), the room with elevator entrance R1.

  • Alphys might work faster.
  • But the old Royal Scientist, Doctor W. D. Gaster?
  • One day, he vanished without a trace.
  • They say he shattered across time and space.
  • Ha ha...
  • How can I say so without fear?
  • I'm holding a piece of him right here.
