Torn Notebook

The Torn Notebook (JP: やぶれたノート) is a weapon sold by Gerson in Waterfall. Its defensive counterpart is the Cloudy Glasses. It is a defensive weapon with low AT, though it increases the SOUL's invulnerability frames in an encounter. When paired with the Cloudy Glasses, it almost guarantees that the protagonist can only be hit one to two times from an enemy attack.

Attacking

When attacking a monster with the Torn Notebook, two bars slide across the attack meter from the right, requiring two attack confirmations. The bars disappear shortly after passing the center of the meter. Hitting a bar exactly in the center causes it to flash gold while missing a bar causes it to flash red.

When confirming the attack, the animation depicts a notebook spinning sideways and counter-clockwise, ending in a star-pattern shock wave. Hitting both bars in the center causes the attack animation to appear golden, which increases damage.

Additional uses

• The Torn Notebook's INV gives distinct effects when fighting against Sans:
  • It grants one frame of invulnerability every five frames, similarly to other INV-boosting items.
  • It slows the protagonist's HP drain rate when hit by KARMA inflicting attacks.
