Snail Pie
The Snail Pie (JP: カタツムリパイ) is a consumable item found in Toriel's Home, replacing Butterscotch Pie in Hard Mode. Its appearance is identical to that of the Butterscotch Pie.
It heals the protagonist up to maximum HP minus one. It does not decrease their HP if used at full health.
- Similar to the Butterscotch Pie, if the Snail Pie is used during the fight with Asgore (if the Snail Pie was acquired through unconventional means), then it lowers his AT and DF.
- Using the Snail Pie (if it is acquired through unconventional means) during the Lost Souls fight against Toriel and Asgore helps to return their memories more effectively than ACTing.

- You ate the Snail Pie. Your HP was maxed. Almost. [Use]
- This item is alluded to twice during a regular Neutral Route/True Pacifist Route playthrough of Undertale:
- Toriel states that she has put off baking Snail Pie in favor of the Butterscotch Pie.
- At Napstablook's snail farm, the protagonist wonders what a snail tastes like when interacting with one of the snails found there.
- In Hard Mode, the Froggit near Home tells the protagonist that Toriel left with no groceries, explaining why she makes Snail Pie instead of Butterscotch Pie.
- It is implied through Toriel's dialogue that the protagonist dislikes like the scent of the Snail Pie.[1]
- The name "Snail Pie" is a reference to the video game Illusion of Gaia where the protagonist describes having a feast of snail pie with whipped cream.[2]

Do you smell that?
— Toriel
Er, I assume that expression means you do.
S... surprise!
I have baked a snail pie.
I thought we might celebrate your arrival.
I want you to have a nice time living here.
So I...
Here, I have another surprise for you. - ↑ "Toriel suggests that she was considering baking “snail pie” to celebrate the main character’s arrival. This outlandish-sounding dish is a reference to Illusion of Gaia, one of Toby’s favorite Japanese games from the mid-1990s." — Clyde Mandelin, Legends of Localization Book 3: UNDERTALE, pg. 100
