Wiki changelog (September 10, 2025)

Here’s a few things that changed since my last changelog! I'm not sure if I'll be doing these regularly, but I wanted to share what I've been doing recently. Do tell if you encounter any other bugs!

Discussions

  1. The instructions for how to change your email are now clearer:

  2. You can now tag multiple wiki articles on the same post. For some reason, this was disallowed until recently.

  3. You can now make the first letter of your username lowercase in Discussions (even though the wiki software does not allow this), by checking this option in your wiki preferences:

"Lowercase the first letter of my username in Discussions" preference, with the help text of "Instead of KockaAdmiralac, you would be shown as kockaAdmiralac. This does not apply to talk pages. You will have to log out and log back into Discussions to apply the change."

Wiki

  1. The infoboxes now display properly in the visual editor:

  2. We have changed the style of navigation boxes on Undertale Wiki (this was done on Deltarune Wiki a few weeks ago):

  3. We have also changed the style of infoboxes and tables on Undertale Wiki:

The changes are mostly about left-aligning text that was previously center-aligned, top-aligning text that was previously center-aligned, and increasing the font of certain labels. The infobox width has been changed to be more similar to standard Wikipedia infoboxes, so you'll no longer get super-wide infoboxes when your page is also super-wide. How do you like this style? If everything seems fine, these will be applied to Deltarune Wiki soon.

  4. Search results now show page descriptions:

Though I still don't quite like how narrow they are, so I might have to fix that later.

  5. The group "site administrator" has been renamed to "infrastructure team", to reduce confusion between people with access to wiki's infrastructure and wiki admins.

  6. We now have a special page listing pages without thumbnails, which tells us where we might need some images.

  7. Most wiki pages should now be showing images upon hovering over links to them:

  8. The table on the Undertale Wiki Items page now lists items such as Unisicle and Bisicle, or Undyne's Letter and Undyne's Letter EX, in separate rows.

  9. If files on the English Undertale or Deltarune Wiki are used by other language wikis, this will appear in a below regular file usage on the English wiki, showing which pages on other language wikis is a file used on. If you're ever moving files, please make sure to update links to them on other language wikis as well!

Yeah, probably for best you changed the email change text. Who/what even is the authentication provider?

The previous text there, “Email can be updated from authentication provider.” was just a very technical way to say that the email can be updated on the wiki. Since the wiki and Discussions run on different software, Discussions somehow has to know which wiki user is logging in (authenticating). To do that, you have to perform some dance that is mostly hidden from the user, in which the wiki securely provides Discussions with information on who is authenticating (logging in), such as username, email address, user rights, etc. and Discussions just uses that data. So, the wiki is the “authentication provider” to Discussions. Discussions, of course, does not quite know that it’s being used on a wiki, so it used a generic term such as “authentication provider” to refer to the wiki in that site text that I just updated.

Okay, the wikis are the things that authenticate your email.

Other than that, seems like some nice quality-of-life updates.
