Who do you think is the Knight? (No Papyrus Knight allowed)

Since it doesn't want me to have less than a sentence, I have to write this.

Prunsel Knight /j

Realistically a corrupted version of Dess’s body is the knight while her consciousness is trapped in the void/code.

I'll refer to my Onion is the Knight theory for my /j

I don't have any actual thoughts though (I thought Carol while doing my first playthrough of the game (she has a giant katana that I thought might be the Black Knife) but I've since changed my mind)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Amalgam Knight

I think so too!

either there's two knights, consisting of asgore and carol, OR it's rudy or carol.

Maybe this is boring but I'm a mainstream Dess Knight truther. Here's my reasoning:

  • Bat sword anim
  • Christmas theme of the Cold Place; 1225 door lock; family falling apart caused by Dess's disappearance
  • Lost Girl theme in Black Knife (debatable)
  • Black deer sprite for the Original Game/MANTLE, which is separate from a blue deer sprite and a brown deer sprite meant to be used for the White Cloak
  • Hurt sfx sounds like Noelle's scream
  • 1225 gacha room hints at Dess possessing a shadow crystal
  • Carol probably can't make it to church before the heroes without a super mayor-money tunnel system. It's arguable that Carol could've made the fountain before coming home, but it's still strange that the Knight is waiting for them right there at the fountain
  • The mayor could've just ordered Undyne to the shelter without needing to kidnap her in a Dark World
  • After last prophecy, the hand that blocks you from backtracking plays a guitar sound effect

I'm not too invested in any of the common Knight theories, but I am firmly a Carol-Knight denier. In addition to what Hinikimori said:

  • The mannerisms that the Knight displays in Chapter 4 would match literally every other candidate better than Carol.
  • The Knight does not seem to have ice powers, which I am convinced Carol would have in the Dark World. ("You felt something like ice on your shoulder...", "Then the room dropped like 5 degrees...")

There is unused shadow crystal text indicating that Undyne is frozen inside the Shelter.

Togore Knight

While I’m firmly a Dess-Knight denier.

Dess cannot be the Knight, Dess is almost certainly the one trapped in the code. Which means she physically cannot be going in the Light World opening fountains.

But even if we assume Dess is somehow NOT UNUSED, it still makes zero sense. Because come on. Dess Knight has you believe Dess, the one always friendly and protective to Noelle, just abandoned the Holiday family without saying a word, spent years in the bunker pretending to be missing, then started trying to cause the Roaring? Like, what

I believe Dess is even more impossible than Asriel Knight (Kris and Asriel could have just lied about Asriel being at college, way more plausible than Dess being missing being one giant fakery that lasted for years. What, people would know he wasn’t at college if he was hanging around Hometown opening fountains? Yes, you’re right, Asriel isn’t the Knight. That same argument applies for Dess as well and for a much bigger timeframe too)

“Ralsei is piles of Asriel’s dust!” I believe is unironically more plausible (says more about Dess Knight than it does about “piles of Asriel’s dust”)

The only Knight theory that would be worse is still calling Kris the Knight, calling Susie the Knight, calling Undyne or Toriel the Knight, or calling a Darkner the Knight. Kris, Susie, Undyne, and Toriel because we see them and the Knight at the same time, and Darkners because Darkners can’t open fountains. Literally every single other Lightner is a better candidate.

Here’s my response to most of the “evidence” for Dess Knight

  • The bat was still in Dess’ room, so Dess can’t be holding the bat. Carol on the other hand could’ve taken it
  • The Black Knife looks more like a katana in the fight itself. Who is known to have MULTIPLE Katanas? And is probably the one who started the Holiday family ninja style? Carol. (Though Amalgam Knight is also feasible and my true main candidate, I’m split between that and Carol)
  • Lost Girl is the theme of the Holiday Family itself. Toby once referred to it as Noelle’s theme, then later corrected himself that it’s more than that. “It’s actually the kind of song that gets used repeatedly all over the game, even when she’s not around”.
  • 1225 refers to the Holiday family itself, not Dess (Also while the gacha room is probably about Dess, the triangle is not a Shadow Crystal, it works the exact opposite a Shadow Crystal. Seeing through your hand only happens in the Light World with Shadow Crystals, you should see the TV if it was a Shadow Crystal)
  • Carol was done talking to Noelle before we leave. Otherwise she wouldn’t have known we were leaving, and stepped out to say goodbye. She could have just followed us to the church Holiday-family ninja style. Also, we still have Amalgam Knight as a candidate so even if Carol is 100% not the Knight it doesn’t suddenly mean Dess is the Knight
  • The Knight could have kidnapped Undyne NOT to get the code… (The Knight probably already knows all three codes, Kris definitely does since they opened the shelter at the end of Chapter 3, so even if the Knight isn’t Carol they’d know the codes, Kris would have TOLD THEM. I suspect though the Knight already knew and instead was the one that told Kris, making them likely either the mayor (who would know all three codes since she’s in charge of the whole town and would have had the shelter built in the first place) or working with Gaster (Amalgam Knight?)) The Knight instead probably wanted to keep US from getting Undyne’s code. Remember, the Knight also didn’t want us getting the Holiday family code in the guitar.
  • Carol took away Dess’ guitar from Susie. She was the last person seen with Dess’ guitar. Carol was the one that blocked us.

Wow the guitar one is really interesting I didn't hear that

Vessel knight could explain why some of the Knight’s poses match up with Kris, it’s mirroring us. This wouldn’t explain the appearance of the Knight and I doubt the vessel would work with Kris or Carol though.

I kind of want the Knight to be a goner type entity because that would explain the shapeshifting and Gaster design connections (hand holes). Plus, goner Knight (same with amalgam Knight) explains why the Knight doesn’t really match any one character we know so far. I’m not sure that it would be a goner of one actual character, but maybe a goner made completely from one of Gaster’s experiments or from the game code itself. I don’t think it’s unreasonable that Gaster could have made a Goner (he lets us make one) and he could have based his design on the holiday family. A major problem with this is why/how is Gaster working with Kris and Carol, because how else did they even find the Goner.

It plays at 0 volume. It's something we were meant to data-mine.

Explain amalgam knight to me? Because as of now, it makes zero sense, and there’s nothing suggesting the amalgams still exist in Deltarune.

I personally think the Knight is their own character. These connections everyone keeps pointing out could mean anything.

The antlers could just be attached to the helmet. The notes from Girl Next Door in Black Knife? Toby said himself the leitmotif can show up anywhere.

The only way I’d care for the Knight being a known character is Papyrus, which itself is unlikely.

I also genuinely think the Knight not being a character we know makes them better as a character. They can have their own unique motives, motives that have nothing to do with whatever we know about them.

I was a Vessel Knight truther before Chapter 3. Now I just think the evidence doesn't line up quite as well.

I think I should be clear that I don't particularly WANT Dess to be the Knight. I was actually a pretty firm Carol believer for the first few weeks. I just think the evidence is more in favor of Dess and I'll make a bullet point post when I'm not on my phone

The Knight's identity is something Kris is actively trying to hide from us. When we try to "Think of The Knight" instead of thinking of Susie in Chapter 4, Kris is just about to picture the Knight without it's helmet before making a conscious effort to picture Jockington instead.

So maybe Jockington is the knight
