Ah yes, because Dess has any relations to NEO at all, and would design a suit eactly like Mettaton NEO's suit.
Like many before in this thread, you're not arguing against anything I said and also don't give me anything to argue against.
Still, there is something unrelated I wanted to say. The body is never called the "NEO Body" anywhere in the game, it's always called "the robot" or "the old machine".
The only association to the word NEO is Spamton calling himself "NEO", and at that point you have to say Queen and Tenna are Mettaton too because they also say the word "NEO".
Hell, even Jevil calls his final attack "NEO". Way before chapter 2 released.

- Bad examples. All three of those characters are explicitly referring to a separate object other than themselves. (And at least they're all related to Spamton in some way)
- You still haven't addressed why it's designed after Mettaton NEO if it was made by a completely unrelated character.
What is this argument? Is Ralsei Asriel? Is Mettaton from Deltarune supposed to remember Undertale? The NEO form wasn't even his dream body, that was EX. And it wasn't him who made it, that was Alphys. Why would Mettaton from Deltarune want to transition to a killing machine?

The problem is: it does.
We're explicitly told the shadow crystal was in the body, not with Spamton. In chapter 4 we learn the crystals "grow" from the tears of a "fallen star". The origin of the shadow crystals is important, so learning exactly who made the body is also important to understand why the crystal was there in the first place.
RC: this is a terrible comparison. these are two completely separate characters. this is more akin to toriel still wanting to be a teacher or asgore still watering flowers. Mettaton in this world may be happstablook but that doesn't mean he doesn't still desire to be mettaton.

With all due respect, I don't think I want to argue anymore. There's more I could say, like the PuppetScarf being made of Guitar Strings, Spamton saying the body was "designed by the classics you'd come to expect" to Kris which implies they know who made it, how Spamton seems to randomly connect to UNUSED during dialogue.
But I don't think anyone actually cares, at this point I don't I do either, there's no point to coming up with evidence for stuff if someone can just say "no" and change subject, then I have to argue against something different again. You won, I guess.
