So which theories survived Chapters 3+4?

I’m gonna make a whole list of which theories are dead and which ones are still possible
MASSIVE spoilers for both chapters

Dead theories
  • Woody Theory - yeah sadly this one’s dead. Like dead dead. There was a cowboy section for like 2 minutes but that’s it. No Friend inside us :(
  • Chess Theory - Tenna is NOT a rook and THE FREAKING ROARING TITAN IS DEF NOT A BISHOP
  • Mike is the main antagonist of 3 - nope, it was Tenna. But Mike was Tenna’s stagehand so he was relevant.
  • Piles of Asriel’s dust - This one’s been dead for a while, but it’s SUPER dead now. Cause we actually see what happens when a darkner is made from piles of dust in chapter 4, and Ralsei doesn’t fit that.
  • Kris Knight - no, but Kris is working with the Knight. Just not THE Roaring Knight.
  • Multi-Knight - Yeah there is just one Roaring Knight.
  • Oberon Smog - Gerson is d e a d for sure.
  • Alvin Knight - okay this one’s not AS dead, but I very much doubt he made a fountain in the Church. Actually this one might be possible but there’s much better teased candidates.
    I think that’s all the dead ones, lemme know if i missed any.
Alive theories

These are theories that are still possible.

  • Carol Knight - this one’s very, VERY teased. I believe it’s her.
  • Dess Knight - not as likely, but still possible.
  • Papyrus Knight - i mean… the Knight is very skeletal.
  • Weird amalgamate Knight - this was suggested by @Random_Kirby_Fan938 , saying that Gaster made an amalgamation of some of Carol, some of Papyrus, and some of himself.
  • Sans is Sans - Sans UT being Sans DR has a lot more evidence. Because in chapter 4, Susie punches a glass prophecy and makes her hands bleed, meaning that although monsters do still turn to dust, they do bleed. What is Sans’s biggest oddity? Bleeding from the cut in his geno fight. So as much as i hate this theory, it’s possible.
    That’s about all i could think of, let me know if i missed anything.

I'd say Oberon Smog is somewhat canon with the basic idea of Gerson being revived in the Dark World but yeah other than that its dead(I also never thought about the blopd thing in chapter 4 but that makes sesnse)

Regarding the "alive theories" section

Carol Knight is definitely dead, not teased. Carol was with Noelle when the Knight appears at the start of Dark Sanctuary, completing ruling her out.

Paired with the Knight's sword first appearing as a baseball bat, and the three different 1225 codes (Findher room, Cold Place, and the one in Dess's guitar), it's 100% Dess, she's the actual most likely candidate

Same way Carol would. Police through Asgore, church through Alvin. Dess arguably has a stronger connection to the church than Carol, because she actually went to church, while I don't remember seeing anything saying Carol did.

We don’t see the Knight when they enter Dark Worlds. We missed the Knight entering Tenna’s Dark World, after all. The only people in the house were Kris, Susie, Toriel, and Undyne, and all them were disproven to be the Knight. Carol was with Noelle when we left for the church, but she could have entered the church during the time of the first few rooms. The Knight can flat-out fly in the Dark World, like when she swooped Undyne away. She could have taken another path to get to the top of the stairs.

I’m only aware of the one in Dess’ guitar and the Cold Place one, and it took me a while to know what you meant by Cold Place because I didn’t recognize the name (but now I know you mean the parental control door to Tenna’s bossfight.) The Dess code just means the code is related to Dess. Carol… is related to Dess. She also, as the mayor, would have connections to the police and the church. She has connections EVERYWHERE. She’s the mayor. Parental controls means literally nothing, Kris made that Dark Fountain, so the Dark World is based on Kris’ desires there, not the Knights. And Kris probably wants to find Dess. Now, what exact room is the ‘findher’ room? I have no clue what you are talking about. Also how in the world is Dess interacting with the Light world when she’s trapped in the game’s code or the depths (UNUSED strings, also spoken through Spamton)

The codes would be assigned by whoever made the bunker to the three people involved. It’s far more likely for the Knight to be someone who has a position of power over these three people, that assigned the codes TO these three people, than just someone who happens to be acquainted with these three people.

Also you forgot to put chess theory with the dead theories Tenna isn't a rook since they don't scam anyone you could even say he got scammed and the chapter 4 boss sire isn't a bishop

So it took me a lot of digging to try and figure out what you could possibly be talking about by the “findher” room. There weren’t any other codes around to find. But I determined you are referring to the secret room inside the gacha machine in the B-rank room that you unlock by inserting exactly 1225 points in the machine. …All this proves is that 1225 is linked to Dess, and again, Kris made that Dark World. (Also 1225 isn’t even a Dess-exclusive, it also shows up as Noelle’s username! Holidaygirl1225!) So, still no evidence of Dess Knight specifically.

You misunderstand. Carol was with Noelle in the Holiday manor while we ran into the Knight in the church.

It's too early to bury Kris Knight and Multiple Knights. Tenna refers to Kris as "the Knight" who told him to keep the heroes busy, and we still don't know if any of the previous Fountain were made by Kris.

We quite literally fight the Roaring Knight. The Roaring Knight also makes the fountain at the end of Chapter 4 to attempt to, well, cause the Roaring. Kris Knight is thoroughly debunked by the end of Chapter 3. By the way, RIGHT BEFORE THEN, when Tenna mentioned the knight approaching him, I thought either Multi-Knight or Kris Knight was about to get confirmed. The Roaring Knight appearing was a huge shock and I saw that crumble much of what I believed the story was going to be. How can Kris be the Knight if we see them and the Knight in the same room at the same time? Also, Tenna was talking about the Roaring Knight. The moment we get Toriel, which the Knight told Tenna to keep Kris busy to prevent from being reached, THAT IS WHEN THE KNIGHT shows up. Because Tenna failed the Knight.

Carol was with Noelle having a conversation in the kitchen when we left the mansion. That conversation could have ended between then and the first few rooms of the First Sanctuary before we meet the Knight at the stairs that end up breaking. Based on how fast the Knight travels at the End of Chapter 3 to take Undyne away, we easily could have missed her if she took a different path while we were in, say, the second room. And she could have done that because she can FLY. As for when the fountain was made, she probably made the Fountain right before she arrived at the mansion, which is why she didn’t show up immediately after Kris called her.

The Kris Knight theory was all about who made the previous Dark Fountains. That's still very much up for debate.

The "Knight" who approached Tenna was Kris, based on what he said in the Mantle minigame. Everything else that Tenna referred to in the original version of the game were true events.

After we leave the Holiday manor, we can go straight into the church and find the Knight there. The only thing between the entrance of the Dark World and the stair is one quick piano puzzle. There was no space or time for Carol to have a conversation with Noelle and still show up there.

Queen referred to the one who made her fountain as the ROARING Knight. The title given to C3 secret boss. We also find the blade there matching the one in Chapter 3. Before 3+4 came out we could get away with thinking it was just to be a generic visualization, but no, the Knight actually looks like that. The only other fountain that might have been Kris is the Grand Fountain (which by the way is the only other fountain to have a Cliffs-esque section)
