During the Chapter 1 and 2 era, this made sense, but now that we have Gerson being the major character of a Chapter, and Undyne being quite important, "Cameo" feels wrong.
This is especially true for the Gaster page. He hasn't officially appeared yet, the section just details the numerous hints towards his presence. That's not a cameo at all.
I think they should be renamed to "In Deltarune", and if the character has non-Deltarune non-Undertale appearances, info on those could go under a new section titled "Other Appearances"
we actually talked about this in the discord a while back. agreement was had that we should change the name! "other appearances" was a popular suggestion, and "in other media". i don't mind whatever way we go but i don't like cameos as a name either
I’m cool with it being renamed. I was one of the people in the Discord agreeing that “in other media” may be fine. I generally favor keeping everything short and concise.
I prefer In Other Media to Other Appearances, because Other Appearances isn’t very specific about what it means. Other appearances where?
I’m currently in the process of rewriting our manual of style and I can make this change in the process and then write one big post with all the standards changes.
"Other appearances" seems like the best choice, since sometimes the appearances aren't what other people would consider "media" (such as merch). i also want to suggest that if the only other appearance is in Undertale/Deltarune and content directly related to it, the section straight up switches from being called "In Undertale" or "In Deltarune" rather than "Other appearances"
alternatively, "Outside of Undertale/Deltarune" might be a good choice? it lets us cover merch, newsletters and trailers as well
"In other media" doesn't seem right to me, because that feels like it'd loosely apply to fan/easter egg appearances of the character in anything at all (like the many places Sans has showed up.)
I like "In Deltarune" as a pretty straightforward and clear option
i do like the idea of splitting up deltarune cameos from other cameos!! didn't comment on this but yes i think that makes a lot of sense to do. In Deltarune / In Undertale seems like a very straightforward title for that.
this scratch forum has a definition of necroposting that i like - "Basically, a thread that no longer serves any purpose is bumped back up to the top of the forums by someone posting in it." emphasis mine.
while this thread has been inactive for months, which is usually necroposting, this thread still serves a purpose. in fact, it was created for an important purpose that people agreed should get fulfilled, but never was. bumping this thread is not necroposting, it is reminding people this is an issue that should be resolved. on the other hand, posting in topics that have already been resolved or do not need to be can be considered necroposting. hope this is clear.

I think “Other appearances” sounds like a more representative section name. Having it be named “cameos” on something like a Deltarune Wiki character referencing its Undertale counterpart, even though Undertale came first, always sounded really weird to me.
