I don't really secret hunt when going through the levels normally
I do get all secrets in a level before p ranking, but I'm stuck in 1-3 (1-4 was the first level I p ranked so it doesn't count in the order)
But if you go and get the good stuff it'll be easier to p-rank
Fun fact: 1-3 used to have the longest S-rank time in the game before Fraud came out

And the non-explode charge levels deal more damage I think
you are the second person I've heard give that answer but be unsure about it
i know they do shockwave for too like the Knuckleblaster and then big boom for overpump
i mostly just use big boom
