I was trying to make a new account but when I was setting up my password manager, I might’ve accidentally copyed into the usernames not my username, but the title I gave it in my password manager. (UT Wiki.) How do I fix this?

Your username is changed on the wiki side now, try logging out of Discussions and back in to update it on Discussions side!

Yeah, currently only we’re able to change usernames. Also, there are some complications if you have edits on both Undertale Wiki and Deltarune Wiki (unrelated to Discussions, though, just wiki edits), but since TigerBears just registered I could rename them easily.
I’m guessing the complications is due to the original Wikis having different coding? I was wondering why my username has underscores here, and not on the Wiki side…
The complication is due to our account system being shared by Undertale and Deltarune Wiki and Wikimedia not adding support for renaming users on a shared database setup until MediaWiki 1.44… which hasn’t even released yet. So we can go through the regular rename process, but if the user edited on both wikis we have to do manual adjustments in the database after the rename, which makes it complicated.
Your username having underscores here is unrelated, it’s because the software we’re using for Discussions (Discourse) has way more restrictions on usernames than MediaWiki and, among other things, doesn’t allow spaces in usernames. And it’s apparently so ingrained in their design (just like the email verification requirement) that we’d have to modify the software to allow that, and we’d rather not take on the complexity of maintaining our own version.

That makes a lot of sense. I wanted to simplify my username, but it seems that since I’ve edited for both UT/DR Wikis, I’m guessing it would be better if I remade an account on here instead?
I can try to do a rename later today! It’ll be our first that requires some non-trivial manual work, but I hope it’ll work. What do you want to rename to?

Alright, your wiki account should be renamed to Link and there should be no discrepancies in what the interface shows anymore, but to apply it to Discussions you have to log out and back in.

I’ve had a similar question, I made my original fandom account in like 2021 so I don’t like the username anymore lol. Could any admins change it to dirtyyspoon for me? Perchance?
