Found a theory I made over a year ago on Fandom

Seeing as how the point of Chess theory was to predict what the final boss of each chapter was, yeah it’s dead. Even with Xander’s explanation on how “og chess theory is dead but here’s a new, better one” doesn’t really help predict what the next final boss will be.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows what og chess theory is but basically the theory went that all of the final bosses, their names or concept would involve chess pieces and they would go in order from most important to least important (King, Queen, Bishop, Rook, Knight, Pawn).

I don’t really see a prediction of chapters with Xander’s “New, better Chess Theory”

Look, I'm not here to make a theory on who or what the next chapter's bosses will be, I was planning to leave that part to yall.

...ig you missed the fact that he is very much not a king in Deltarune and is actually not doing so well and not even in the government at all

yeah, but the problem I always had was:
why
why would they involve chess pieces

did you miss the fact that the dark world is being opened in a shop called FLOWER KING?
please, no need to get smart with me.

“Ohh noo im so scared! I’m shaking in my boots!”

RC: well it would've been fun theming/a cool pattern that would've tied the chapters together

Yeah

ok
but
like why
what reason would toby have done that for
what thematic and narrative purpose does that serve
or do people genuinely think that toby just thought

"Nyeh heh heh! i am so evil! I am going to sneakily make every boss a chess piece for no reason! The fans'll never see this one coming!"

RC: what reason did he have to make the chapter one dark world be themed around board games? It would've made more sense if it was more so themed around school supplies. Like perhaps Darkners based on pencils, papers, history books, and lab equipment. The reason is because it was cool

What Vanatron said.

no.
the reason was that all dark worlds are a form of escapism.
it's one of the game's main themes.
the first chapter was a discarded classroom, filled with games and toys. escapism through games.
second chapter, the internet. escapism through the internet, as I'm sure many people here may have experienced at one point
escapism through TV

escapism through religion.

this is pretty basic info??? like this is one of the game's main themes!

I don't know why you even bring up a dark world full of school equipment. It's fully possible that he thought of the dark world first, then its counterpart in the light world.
It's not the other way around.
your view sees it as (development-wise) light world influencing contents of dark world, but in reality it's the other way around.

Literally have never heard the escapism theory but huh ig

RC: that's not a theory that's a major theme in the game genuinely what are you talking about

me not having the game:

RC: WHY ARE DISCUSSING THE VALIDITY OF THEORIES IF YOU HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED THE GAME?! CHAPTERS 1 & 2 ARE FREE DOWNLOAD THEM IMMEDIATELY

lol >:)

RC: OR LIKE WATCH A PLAYTHROUGH IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SWITCH PC OR PLAYSTATION SOMEHOW JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SEEN THE FULL CONTENTS OF THE GAME BEFORE TAKING PART IN COMPLEX DISCUSSIONS ABOUT IT
