Deltarune item name formatting

This does mean we should revert the changes for the Revive Mint, right?

Perhaps so.

I don’t think we should, it’s a similar situation to the Shadow Mantle, where it’s referred to as ShadowMantle in the inventory, but everywhere else it is called ShadowMantle.

In this case, the ReviveMint is called Revive Mint once, while it’s called ReviveMint literally everywhere else.

Sometimes the item’s name isn’t even yellow… classic Toby.

Yeah so I just did what the Shadow Mantle page did, and just said the alternate formatting in the page as seen here.

https://deltarune.wiki/w/ReviveMint

The rule is:

For item names, in-game dialogue should come first, so we can keep names like "Shadow Crystal" and "Shadow Mantle". Then, we defer to the inventory formatting for all other cases.

Applying the rule arbitrarily is the opposite of consistency. If we're keeping the article as ReviveMint, I would rather drop the dialogue rule entirely and name every item as its inventory name.

Not counting the inventory name, the only time the game uses "ReviveMint" directly is when finding the ReviveMint in one of Queen's paintings.

Oh yeah, you’re right about the Revive Mint uh mistake on my part, my bad.

But they do seem to be referred to as Revive Mint and ReviveMint an equal amount of times (that being 1) and since in-game dialogue comes first when naming, I guess we do rename Revive Mint, my bad for the mistake.

What's the difference?

i assume they meant 'but everywhere else it is called Shadow Mantle.' and just typo'd it

F-sharp and I talked about it, and it’s currently fine as “ReviveMint”.

Largely in part that “Revive Mint” was used in the narration, which as of Chapter 4, has been largely inconsistent in naming.

His logic, by priority, is:

  1. Spoken dialogue, such as Seam mentioning “Shadow Crystal” and “Shadow Mantle”
  2. Item get: like from treasure chests
  3. Inventory
  4. Narration

Yeah it was a typo

That's... fine.

It is a transparent case of coming up with a list ahead of time and hand-crafting the requirements to fit it, but it would be hypocritical of me to complain about that after How do we determine minibosses?

Eh, it’s a Tobyspacing case for now…

Also you do bring up a valid concern. Lists are a good way to keep everything in check and so everyone knows what’s going on. Even in the main Standardization thread, I prefer that as well.

I thought I would get over it, but I didn't.

I understand narration being behind spoken dialogue in priority, but not the inventory names and item-get texts. Narration, like dialogue, is freely written by Toby, while the inventory names and item-get texts need to fit a rigid template.

But more importantly, this really feels like a ReviveMint-only exception. To my knowledge, the Revive Mint is the only item with a longer/proper-spaced alternative to the inventory name that we don't use as the name of its page. This doesn't feel like proper standardization.

@F-sharp

I skimmed the Items page, and I did find that LancerCookie's page uses the inventory name, despite Lancer himself calling it "Lancer Cookie". I think this is an oversight.

I admit it's a bit of a toss-up whether to use "Revive Mint" or "ReviveMint". "ReviveMint" is used far more extensively than "Revive Mint", which is only used in a one-off instance in battle narration. However, I would be willing to revert back to "Revive Mint" if we really need to do that.

I'm okay if the standard is to use name that's used the most by the game, but that needs to be the actual standard. Having this "dialogue > item-get > inventory > narration" rule as a stand-in for the real standard is bad form.

I only came back here because Link added this rule to User:KockaAdmiralac/Language.

For the record, this is already in the current manual of style since April 10, 2026, that one is the currently a work-in-progress, and can definitely be updated.

Right. I didn't notice when it was added to the current one.

It's okay, I've belatedly realized that this line was included in the same cited edit from 4/10/2026:

If a name is consistently different in a later Chapter, that name is prioritized.

So technically it should be fine because it's already rounded. Heck, before I asked for some opinions from F-sharp, EvieMaybe, HylianAngel and Kocka on the priority order before realizing some opinions came down to this, if not favored inventory formatting.
