After the conclusion of this discussion, we have updated the Manual of Style to introduce two new sections and move around some others. Now we need your help to roll this standard out to all pages!
What changed
We have a new section: Allusions! This is a new place for all those trivia points that said "X is referencing Y from Z", and as a continuation of the trivia reorganization project we are looking to remove more trivia, and move it to other sections.
Shop section has moved. Vendor pages have a Shop section placed on top, and as a part of this change we decided to move it between Relationships and In battle. Additionally, the Shop dialogue section should be moved as a subsection of the Shop section, and the wares should be removed from the infobox since they are in the main body.
"Creation and development" and "Outside of Undertale/Deltarune" are now below the In battle section, and Etymology is now at the bottom of the Profile section.
What can you do
This is a set of steps you can follow to help us roll out this new standard:
Look at trivia. Do you see anything that is more suitable for the Allusions section? In that case, please move it! (example change)
Look at the allusions section. Do you see any allusions that are unlikely? Feel free to remove them!
Does the page have a Shop section? Move it above In battle, and then move the Shop dialogue section underneath it! (example change) Also, remove the Wares section from the infobox, then add the page into the Vendors category. (example change)
Check the order of sections. If Etymology is not at the bottom of Profile, or if Creation and development and Outside of Undertale/Deltarune are above In battle, please move them!
That's all. The Allusions section change applies to all articles, others only to character articles. You can start from articles in the Characters category on Deltarune Wiki!
When it comes to Allusions, generally yes. You would just have to create the relevant new sections to place the former trivia point under.
When it comes to Shop dialogue, you would also need to increase the level of each section heading within. In wikitext, that's changing == Shop dialogue == to === Shop dialogue ===, and similarly for headers underneath. In the visual editor, that's clicking on these headers and selecting the next one in the list (e.g. Sub-heading 1 to Sub-heading 2).
I also added another thing to the list that we agreed on as a part of the Shop section reorganization: removal of the wares parameter from infoboxes. I linked two example edits in the original post to help with doing these tasks, and I'll add more as we roll out the change.
If you're using the wikitext editor, place [[Category:Vendors]] at the bottom of the page, like this. If you're using the visual editor, it's this option:
How do you think we should treat Undertale reference mentions for pages like Normal NPC? References to UT are mentioned in the body itself, not trivia, and I feel like keeping them there makes it flow better, but should they be moved out? For reference:
The Normal NPC can be found selling "Fried dough balls. Of Octopus" for "only 2G" (which is then immediately corrected to "only for free") at the Festival in Chapter 5. This shop is the only time "G" is mentioned as a currency in Deltarune; in Undertale, it stands for "GOLD" and is the primary currency used in the Underground. This oddity is noted by the Scared Donut Guy, who states that he bought one of the "fried dough balls" for 2G while not even knowing that he "had G".[10]
The fried dough balls are described as tasting like "raw onion",[11] and follows the disappearance of Onion in Chapter 4 and the Normal NPC's apparent attempt to prevent Kris from talking to Onion. If the fried dough ball is given to Kris, they eat it and open a fortune paper inside which tells them to try the discount code "B A L L";[12] this is likely a reference to the easter egg in Undertale, where, if the player inputs "Ball" at the main menu, a jingle plays.[13]
During the Weird Route, Susie mentions that they did not appear at their stand when she was at the Festival.[14]
Already reorganized various trivia points and placed them in the Allusion subsections for multiple truckloads of character pages. Though, I already have the Trivia Spam(ton) Hunter badge.
