I noticed that despite Ralsei claiming to be a darkner (and having lived in Castle town his whole life), he never petrifies into a statue when he travels to other dark worlds. This, combined with the fact that he heavily resembles members of the Dreemurr family (his name is an anagram of ASRIEL) as well as the fact that every single other darkner in Castle town is themed to card/board games in some way, that leads me to believe that he is a lightner and doesn't realise it. Maybe I just spoiled the surprise, in that case, oops. What do yous think?
Castle town is a different dark world than the card kingdom, and he specified that castle town’s dark fountain generates all types of darkness, which is why other darkness can go there and why he can go to other dark worlds. Additionally, his talking portraits are colored, which only applies to darkners, and lightners have monochromatic talking portraits. Ralsei is probably just his own thing in the dark, not an object or anything

darkners from all sorts of dark worlds can be in castle town without petrifying...
it doesn't seem too outlandish that it'd work the other way, too. that darkners from castle town (currently the only example of which is ralsei) could be in all sorts of dark worlds without petrifying

not to be that guy but the card/board game darkners are from card kingdom, not castle town
the only native residents of castle town are the wobbly things, the piles of gerson's dust, and presumably ralsei

oh, interesting
along with what everybody else has said,
darkners are able to stay in a world as long as they "fit in" with the theming of that world
thus how rouxls was able stay in chapter 2, as he was embodying online piracy
he only turned to stone once he gave that up
now, since ralsei is included in the prophecy, theoretically, he should be able to manifest in any dark world without decaying, since he's fulfilling his purpose as part of the prophecy

I believe Ralsei is an extremely unusual darkner with more lore to him than we currently know
I don't think he's secretly a lightner and didn't realize it
How would that make sense
He goes between different dark worlds so surely he would notice if he can exist in the light world
And when he gets downed his entire body disappears
I love how the battle you went straight to to get a dead Ralsei screenshot was the knight lol
I used it because it's the only one that describes what happens to Ralsei.

Yes. The same sprite is used when DOWNed or SWOONed.
I don't think there are any unique SWOON sprites for anyone
susie's is. when she's DOWNed she just kneels
