"Your Best Nightmare" and "His Theme" leitmotifs

  • I'm fairly confident that "12am" uses the leitmotif of "Your Best Nightmare" throughout, and in "GUARDIAN", although incredibly faint, the church bells in the background are playing "His Theme".

Do you have timestamps?

  • 12am is just through the whole thing, GUARDIAN is around 1:12

I can hear them! (not sure, though)

I hear that “12am” follows the same interval structure as the intro of “Your Best Nightmare” (0:00–0:15) all the time (0:00 - 0:38, which is the whole track), but with a different rhythm and consecutive notes at the beginning of the melody.

I can hear it when I'm paying attention, but not when listening casually. That’s a red flag to me, but I’d leave it to someone else's judgment.

I can also hear 'His Theme' a lot in 'GUARDIAN'. It also has a very different rhythm but still sounds a lot like it to me.

One part playing on:
0:27 - 0:54
1:11 - 1:25 (on the background)
1:53 - 2:20
2:37 - 2:50 (on the background)

Another one on:
0:13 - 0:27
0:58 - 1:25
1:39 - 1:53 (modulated)
2:24 - 2:50 then modulated and continued 2:50 - 3:18.

The big problem I see with “His Theme” being on “GUARDIAN” is that it never ends the melody the same way “His Theme” does. Instead of resolving, it keeps building tension.

I think that’s all (we could totally be imagining things).
