Would inserting MIDI playings or MP3s of the leitmotifs as they are presented in the sheet music be helpful or worth it? I think maybe?

I'm a musician myself, and while I can hear out what is presented on the sheet music myself, I know some others cannot, and some cannot even read sheet music. Would it be helpful or useful to the wiki to have some sort of playback feature for the motifs shown in the sheet music presented? I know Wikipedia does it for some visualized music (in sheet music form usually), as I edit there. I don't know if it would like even be possible, via either like MP3 that's been archived and pulled as needed like the images used on the site or LilyPond or something?

You mean, like we have the music files on the Deltarune Wiki Leitmotifs article? That's the way we do it for now.

There is a MediaWiki extensions that can read LilyPond notation and transform it into sheet + music that we found, I guess we could look into it in the future. I assume that's the extension you've seen used on Wikipedia.

Yeah, like that, I guess! I was just on the Undertale Wiki and didn't see that on the leitmotif page, hadn't looked at the Deltarune Wiki yet!

my friend was actually working on making audio files for the UT leitmotifs page! i can see how much they ended up finishing if you want to help out as well :0

And if Lilypond integration is a thing that happens, I do have a bit of personal but not professional experience in writing out Lilypond files, so I may be able to help with that! It's been a bit since I've used Lilypond, as once I started using MuseScore and later Sibelius, Lilypond kinda fell by the wayside, but I can definitely dust it off for some shorter leitmotifs if needed!

It would probably depend on the soundfont/vst used as well as any sfx applied, I wouldn't want to use one that sounds different or anything! If it's just like general standard MS2/MS3/MS4/Sibelius/etc., each program all has different standard sounds (and MS4 has sfx applied as the standard as well), and I wouldn't want to make anything sound too different!

i don't think i can send audio files over discussions... are you in the server discord, or are willing to join the server discord? itd be easier to talk about this there

I've been thinking about and experimenting behind the scenes with finding ways to standardize both the visual music sheets & audio components, so I'd love to start a thread (or continue the existing Soundtracks one) over on the Discord on this if we pick up the conversation there!

seconding this — op let us know :)

I am not on the Discord, I will join once I have some time! Work's unfortunately kicking my butt rn.

Well, I'm back a year later, ha!
