unless i'm misunderstanding something, they don't originate from there like any of the other Darkners in said category - they make their first appearance in Chapter 4 Castle Town, but they originated from TV World. are the categories sorted by first appearance?
The Castle Town category (which is what I think you're referring to) contains all characters that can be found in Castle Town, not just the ones that have their first appearance there. It's the same for all location categories.
sorry, i suppose i should've clarified more, i meant the Category:Darkners page under the header Closet Dark World. for a while it only contained Ralsei, his Dummy, the Dust Piles, and the Wobbly Things - Darkners which originate in that place - but the Fake Mikes have been added, along with the Castle Rudinn since i'm noting it. i just noticed this and didn't quite understand the logic, though i might have missed something
That page is more gameplay-wise rather than lore-wise in terms of organization, with the exception of mentioned-only characters like Dess and Asriel.
The Mike impersonators are off-screen and mentioned in Chapter 3's TV World, but gameplay-wise they first appear in Chapter 4's Castle Town visit. Mainly to understand the logic, remember that the sprites of the fake Mikes do not appear in Chapter 3.
It is also said at the top to be "Characters that first appear in the closet Dark World."
right, so it is first appearance-wise, got it! just tripped me up as for the longest time i assumed otherwise, since the quoted sentence doesn't. actually appear on the page ^^;
That is a bit odd that it isn't on Category:Darkners. It's on Category:Characters though.
It's because they appear for the first time in-game in Castle Town

hey so I'm the guy that put those guys in that section. they were originally listed under "TV World", but I moved them all the way up to "Closet Dark World" because they never actually appeared in Chapter 3. they're only alluded to be (and quite vaguely, as we're not fully sure if it's always the Mikes' doing or if there's a "real" Mike who Tenna is talking to), but you never see them until Chapter 4. and I think I'm not the only one here who believes that this sorting method makes more sense.
