I prefer Once Upon a Time because it’s an entire Melody, used in multiple tracks, while Don't Forget normally is only used for its ending, and it is much shorter, too.

I prefer UNDERTALE for being original, and because(not only Once Upon a Time) its soundtrack is much better(and cooler)
Better characters, better music, better history, etc.
I don't really know what to say about the characters, so they're pretty much the same (Meaning as good as UT.)
The MUSIC though, OH MAN. The music in Deltarune is SO PEAK. Not a single song could fall below a B or B+ if I put them on a tier list. Take, for example, The Third Sanctuary, or Hammer of Justice, or even something as short or small as Big City Board. OR REALLY JUST ANY SONG. Meanwhile, some of Undertale's songs are... well... let's just say that other than for the meme, Long Elevator isn't winning any awards.
As for the plot, both are very simple. In Undertale, you play as a small child who fell into the mountain shere all monsters have been sealed away. In Deltarune, you control a human teenager as you explore Dark Worlds to seal their Dark Fountains, and ultimately save the world from total destruction with your two friends.
And that's my opinion. I still think that Deltarune is better overall, but both are still great. (I also may be a little biased towards Deltarune because two great chapters JUST came out, sooo...)
In terms of the characters and the plot, I much prefer DELTARUNE. The plot is more elaborate but at the same time more grounded thanks to a more relatable setting. Same thing with the characters, especially the protagonist - they're more life-like. It's much easier for me to put myself in the shoes of a depressed, dissociating teenager with an eating disorder than a literal child. The Weird Route IMO also hits harder than the Genocide Route because emotional manipulation is easier to relate to than, you know, killing everyone.
In terms of the music, uhhhh... I prefer DELTARUNE's songwriting, but I feel like UNDERTALE's music is generally mixed better.
History: but it doesn't need to be larger to be better. Sometimes, simpler is cooler, and it only takes a few notes to create a history. To create a Memory. -Toby Fox, the part in italic
Also, for some reason Undertale’s soundtrack sounds better to me, when entering my ears(maybe not in you).
Except for the Knight, i think every character in Undertale is less creative, but is better somehow. Too, every main character has more Backstory, some better ones than "ohh i'll makes a contract with this guy. Oh no, he thinked better and will not work with me anymore!"
Or
"The court clown told me that a cool guy will makes me more powerfull(polliticaly) before he got insane, i’ll let that guy do their thing"
Dont forget That deltarunes idea came to Toby before he even MADE Undertale.
Also, What? they’re both really original games, and if you’re calling deltarunes many systems ripped off, then look at what I said above.
Every character in BOTH games is more creative than the knight! The knight is just “dark shadow person who wants a bad apocalypse happen and wants to kidnap and do other things for evil reason” Look at like ANY piece of media, and you’ll find the exact same concept.
…Who from DELTARUNE is this trying to quote? Is it spamton? Mike? Tenna?
This is ONE character. MAYBE 2 if you count Kris telling TENNA about the knight, but that doesn’t fit.
So a skeleton who’s only backstory are a couple random lines and a couple lines of flavor text has more backstory than… A purple lizard girl just trying to fit in, but no one likes her, so she went to bulling, but will learn better ways to help and upstand for herself, while also making friends along the way. An Old CRT TV who just wants the families to be back together, so he can feel happy and appreiciated, with an already bad fear of abandonment from his old business partner who left abruptly after a phone call.
what? The don’t forget motif is probably the most used motif in the game. Both are really good, but Both are the ones that represent their own game.
Conclusion: I like both games pretty equally, but undertale lacks everything deltarune has. I think deltarune has better music, art, story, history, and is one of, if not the best RPG games ever. As for Undertale, its just deltarune, but if it was made by someone who barely knew things about coding games, and was trying to make a buffer release. Also, Deltarune is his dream project. Undertale isn’t. Hes put all his heart into Deltarune to make it one of the best games out there.
Also how do you think the knight is the most creative character in Deltarune if you’re convinced they’re actually a nobody and have no backstory at all
