Where Exactly is the Cutoff Between Discussions and Memes?

I’ve seen several things that seem like memes in Undertale Discussions, and several things that in Memes and Random that look like well, not quite discussions, but definitely closer to discussions than the memes I found in Undertale and Deltarune Discussions. (Yes, I mean the original post in a topic in both cases. I’m not referring to memes derailing a thread that was originally a discussion, nor am I referring to people turning a memepost into a discussion.)

Where exactly do we draw the line between what belongs in Memes and Random, and what goes into the Discussion category? Because it seems “Discussions” is both looser than I imagined, but also, in a way that I don’t get yet, since when I adjust my internal line so that all the posts in Undertale/Deltarune Discussions that look like memes still count as discussions, it jumps some threads in Memes and Random over to Discussions in my internal category-sorter. So, my system’s not just miscalibrated, it’s flat-out broken. So how DO I draw the line correctly?

(If you’re an admin and wish to know exactly which threads spurred me to make this post, say so here and I’ll PM you links to the exact threads I am referring to. As of right now, though, I’m asking for a general idea of where the line is drawn, I’ve presumed you guys looked at all the threads and considered them all in the correct category, and used a consistent set of principles to make the determination.)

I reclassified some of the recent posts back into memes and random, check if that’s what you meant. But generally, if the post is mostly a joke with no potential for any serious discussion, it belongs to Memes and Random.

The threads you moved to Memes and Random are indeed what I meant. I guess you just didn’t see them before. I wasn’t sure, that’s why I didn’t just flag them and say “wrong category”. But I guess my original model was pretty accurate after all, moderation just didn’t happen at the time.

So, memes and random is if it’s mostly a joke, and no chance for serious discussion. So, conversely, that means every thread in the Undertale/Deltarune categories should either be serious, or leave room for someone to make serious replies in. I see.

I wonder where in-universe threads might fall in this? Suppose I made a thread where we all talk about Dragon Blazers… as if it was an actual game you could play. Or Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, as if it was an actual anime. Someone could potentially turn it into a serious discussion if they brought up lines from Undertale/Deltarune supporting certain takes on these fictional media, but generally speaking, it’s mostly for fun. Memes and Random? Or Discussion?

Similarly, there’s the idea of “Undertale but the characters are played by actors, now think of some outtakes, what would they be like”. Mostly joke posts, but Hard Mode actually has the premise that it’s just the monsters playing along, and there’s an actual blooper from Napstablook not getting a memo, so it’s possible it’d turn into a discussion on Hard Mode itself, at least to ground the idea. Memes and Random? Undertale Discussion?

EDIT:And pushing further on the serious side, but still arguably in the gray area, what about the threads some of us had back in the Deltarune Wiki that were “let’s add more teas to the game, what would everyone’s reactions be?”
