I’ve seen people compare the shape of the Knight’s sword to a baseball bat and suchlike, but really, what kind of blade is it? Looking at the Knight’s battle sprite, their weapon looks to me kind of like a large machete, but what do you guys think?

As far as the sprite names are concerned, that is simply a sword. Even when it looks like a bat, it is still called a sword.

Yeah, a flat rounded pommel with bits sticking out at the sides, no crossguard, it's probably just the Dark World variant of a baseball bat. Sure, bats don't have blades, but neither do pencils but those are swords in the Dark World too.

Probably the best matching weapon tbh. I don't think Toby actually had a particular one in mind, hence just calling it a knife.
Knightmayor truthers might say it's Carol's black katana in the Light World though.

Most likely a saber based on the curve in the blade.

Scimitar is a “slur” for sabers, the Asian swords such as a katana.
