Theory: Undertale Hard Mode is a Staged Play

Reasons for this include:

  1. Fallen human's name is reprompted upon game reset.
  2. The mode ends on the Ruins, implying this is Act 1 of the play.
  3. Toriel... doesn't die??? So I guess she was acting the whole time???
  4. The existence of Snail Pie and how the switch labels had worn away implied the stage set was incomplete
  5. Toby Fox cuts Act 1 in the end

It was a hidden Homestuck reference this whole time…

There are Acts in Homestuck

Occasionally they’re also split into sub-acts

In total, there’s (13 Acts in all)

  • Act 1
  • Act 2
  • Act 3
  • Act 4
  • Act Five Act 1
  • Act Five Act 2
  • Act 6 Act 1
  • Act 6 Act 2
  • Act 6 Act 3
  • Act 6 Act 4
  • Act 6 Act 5
  • Act 6 Act 6
  • Act 7

Oh ok

Silksong, Homestuck, and a self-reference to UNDERTALE!
Golly gosh!

I don't like how this theory actually makes sense.
Stop being so damn smart
next thing we know @Fwugradiation 's going to come and like offer you a job or something idk

Silksong: Three-Act Play Structure
Homestuck: Just Acts

making a theory needs ya to be smart

uh yeah
a job

...or idk just like validate your theory or something

Despite taking massive damage, Toriel doesn't die, implying she is just acting with the human (and the human fakes death when a cardboard prop soul breaks)

damn

Especially because Toby is confused about how Toriel doesn't die

he forgot they were in a staged play

it was all a ruse
a trick
a deception
on might even say...
AN ACT!

THE SECRET 4TH REFERENCE!!!

Well there's also an act where you gently open a door or something
