So, here is a theory suggested to me by a friend,

The dark zone that jackenstein resides in is the lightest place in chapter 4 dark worlds. (or any so far)

So, if dark worlds are darker than dark, proved by ralsei and entry #17, the brighter it is in a dark world is really how much darker it is, so.

If the dark zone is pitch black, then wouldn’t that mean its the brightest place?

Lets say that a dark world is -50 made up light units. (LU). If a dark world is completely light, then the LU=-100. But the darker the dark world gets the closer it gets to 0 LU, being pitch black in both worlds. A light world is 50 LU and a bright light world is 100 LU.

What do you think?

In Chapter 4, there are ripple mazes set in complete darkness, and a couple of them feature a Titan Spawn chasing you. If those had more light than the rest of the Dark Sanctuary, a Spawn appearing there would contradict their nature:

A shard of fear. Appears in places of deep dark.

Here's a more plausible explanation: Just how you can be blinded by too much light, you can be blinded by too darkness.

Hmm, true. I suppose "blinded" isn't a good term to use then.

I guess it's not a contradiction if the terminology works something like this:

In the Light World, brighter is more light, and in the Dark World, deeper is more light
In the Light World, brighter is more light, and in the Dark World, deeper is more light560×385 5.1 KB

Which it could, probably? But IMO that's counterintuitive.

Hm. I guess that could be the case, but it says they appear in deep dark, not darker than dark. maybe they appear in places that have exactly 0 light.

Pretty sure light units exist irl, and iirc, they're called "lumens"

No, exactly 0 units would be a pitch black Light World (similar to closing yourself in a room with the lights off.)

So maybe it's near -1 LU?

No, darker in dark worlds are darker in light worlds.

-50 is dark world, 50 is light world, 0 is in between.
