There is no need for 2 paragraph-long explanations here.
Toby is being accused of racism for only making English and Japanese translations of his games.
His games were popular in Spain and Portugal, but no translations were made, hence the racism accusations.
I side with Toby. He isn't racist, why would an indie guy be racist.
I mean indie guys are just guys
There’s Nazi indie games
But yeah Toby isn’t racist and I’m sick of this drama
It’s already been addressed by him
He literally said himself that he only translated it into Japanese because English and Japanese are the only languages he knows, and he said that he was fine with any fan translations. This is just people looking for something to stir up trouble. I mean, there isn’t a French translation, or a Chinese translation, or any others. It’s just stupid.
Dude's not racist for not translating his game into languages he doesn't know
I think this is partially a problem with how parasocial some people feel towards Toby
Something I don't understand is the depictions of him as a neo-nazi Israeli Palestinian-killer.
Like... what?
It’s partially because a lot of that stuff is associated with bad people in general in like online culture, but also I think it’s because of a mix of the accusations Toby is racist and rumors that Toby is Jewish
Also, just saying this, but I think the Israel-Palestine conflict might be too politically divisive to discuss much more than this on the wiki
It is. But unfortunately other people are bringing politics into this. I really want to avoid talking about politics where I can, but if it intersects with my life, I will. I just want to point out how dumb the depictions are.
No, the articles haven’t really been revamped a lot ever since we forked. I’ve been prioritizing fixing various other articles this whole time. I’ve been wanting to check in with Sephazon for a photo or two anyways…
It’s mainly because of the Fangamer shipping prices being super expensive in Latin America and the fact that the “World Tour” of the Undertale and/or Deltarune Orchestra didn’t have a location in Latin America for some reason.
And the entirety of the internet on twitter thinks Toby pulls the strings on everything UT/DR related, and so they called him hateful towards Latin Americans
Apologies if you already know this, and now I will give my opinions.
This is stupid. So very stupid. It’s like if I made a game (which I hope to in the future, once I learn how to write code like python. I know how to think in it I just don’t know how to write it.) and only had it in English since I’m literally one guy and people said “Why doesn’t he have it in Spanish? He hates Spanish people!!1!!1” or if DaPixl2000 received message like “Why isn’t it in Chinese? You’re racist towards China!!1!1!” once they complete the Asreal Engine.
Now sure, would it be a good idea to translate it officially? Of course. But he doesn’t have to. For one, it’d be expensive as hell, and two, he doesn’t speak the language, so he wouldn’t know if the translated text would fit how he wants it to look.
this is very stupid though, it would take Toby longer to release the chapters if he did all the languages. he isn't racist for only using 2 languages because if he was he would most likely not allow the fan translations, who even decided to call him racist in the first place?
I also saw a comment from one of the people in Latin America saying that among their fandom they weren’t mad about it, it was once again others claiming it was offensive toward people who don’t give a sh*t
