The one theory I simply don't want to happen (trans ralsei)

I'M NOT TRANSPHOBIC!

I see a surprising amount of people treat this theory like it's just bound to come true, some believers even use she/her pronouns for Ralsei in advance to it coming true, but even if evidence says it might, I just hope it doesn't.

Why?

In short

The reason I don't want Ralsei to be a trans girl is because the theory treats Ralsei's femininity as a conflict that needs to be solved by a gender transition, which is a rhetoric that people use in regards to real life people too.

Why Ralsei matters how he is

I personally am a 'femboy', that's also what Ralsei is gender-wise. A man, but with feminine qualities. Ralsei represents femboys all around the world, because Ralsei is a rare type of femboy character who exemplifies that femboys aren't just cartoonishly pretty, thigh-high wearing, one-dimensional gender abnormalities, because Ralsei is a femboy and a normal, sociable person.

Why it can't go the other way

The concept of an 'egg' in trans-related contexts refers to someone who doesn't know that they will be trans soon. This is often attributed to femboys by a rather closed-minded portion of the trans community (not all of them, obviously).
If you want to become trans, that's swell, but I feel like some people are doing it out of obligation just because that's the only cure to gender dysphoria that they're hearing is valid.

So then why is it a plausible outcome?

If Toby Fox contemplated this story for like 15 years or so and still came to the conclusion that Ralsei's femininity is part of his identity crisis that needs to be solved by transition for him to become happy, then I will be absolutely devastated that this would be the moral lesson that people all across the planet receive about gender dysphoria. I currently have faith that it won't happen, but gosh darnit Tricky Tony Fox, why else would you make Ralsei eye up a pink and blue beverage??

So basically, to all you trans ladies out there, I love you, I relate to your struggles, but please, get your own representative, this one is ours :eyes:

This is the pluest thing that ever plued.

I personally am sort of a tomboy (a femboy but in reverse, I’m a girl with “boy-ish” interests)

like I've said on a similar topic, I am more of a Titan Ralsei theorist then a Trans Ralsei Theorist
(I don't have anything against trans people tho, I just don't really believe in that theory)

I think Titan Ralsei is pretty silly too. Not offensively colonial, just silly. You can summarize it as, "Ralsei doesn't follow the rules of a traditional darkner, titans aren't traditional darkners, therefore Ralsei could be a titan".
I feel like the only way it works is if Ralsei straight up lied about how titans work and they totally do have emotions, which seems like the wrong move to represent his own kind. If Ralsei is a weird titan who does have emotions then that's just as strange as him being a weird darkner.

I did have my own evidence somewhere but I lost the original paper I wrote it on.

and that's ok for your perspective on the theory, we are all making guesses for an unfinished plot(so far)

You are acting like Ralsei's femininity is the only reason why people think they're trans. That is not true

I'm just not here to go over the evidence. The point isn't that I think it's an incorrect prediction, it's that I don't want it to be correct. I would be genuinely unhappy if that's where this is going.

You could say I'm not trying to prove it wrong, I'm trying to prove it bad.

You should really reexamine your biases if you can't tell what's transphobic about this.
Anyhow, the Transfem Ralsei reading did not arise from people thinking that their femininity necessitates them to be a woman, it arose from Ralsei struggling with identity issues that, while not necessarily exclusive to trans people, deeply resonate with trans fans (like me) who related to their struggles.

ik that you're not transphobic
being honest the transei theory still lacks evidence so good point

Are you trans?

Because I'm not really a fan of cis fans being given such a big platform to confidently misinterpret and talk over trans readings the way they do.

And I'm not denying that. I think it's plausible to be correct, though I could refute the evidence if I wanted to.
As stated above, the issue comes in when you have peak femboy representation in the form of Ralsei turn out to perpetuate negative stereotypes and rhetoric towards femboys, as if being transgender is correct and being a femboy is exclusively a midpoint to getting there.

I think it has plenty of evidence. The issue is that it's not good, kind of like Papyrus Knight, but with a deep social issue.

You realize that Blue is a feminine man? And nobody calls Blue a closeted trans woman?

Can you clarify what that means for this?

Your claim was that Deltarune should have GNC rep, yes?
Blue is a feminine man, yet you have not acknowledged him at all in this thread.

The claim isn't that Deltarune should have this representation in the first place, though I think it's better if it does. The claim is that Ralsei transitioning and only being happy once that happens is not a good thing to say about the (literal) goat of femboy representation.

Blue is a side character designed to be half of a miniboss in Chapter 5 and then disappear. Ralsei is one of the top three most quintessential characters to the narrative. What Toby says about Ralsei matters a lot more than what he says about Blue.

It's not a contest for which community gets more and better representation, it's about not saying something harmful using one of the most important characters arguably in fiction.

I'm pretty sure a very certain cardboard cutout once said "its just a theory", Nori so some people can have different perspectives on different theories cause hey there not cannon but guesses

You realize that Deltarune's story is incomplete, right? You cannot claim to have the full picture on a character in an incomplete narrative.

Point being?

Reestock is not simply trying to claim that Galsei is incorrect, they are trying to claim it would be objectively bad from a writing standpoint, which is wrong.
