If you don’t control a fictional character since its birth, it is equally a Vessel, like Kris

You see, before you start taking decisions for the character, they had a life before that

Think of (principally Kris) Frisk, the literal multiple characters you control in the Splatoon series, The [Hollow] Knight, heck, even Mario!!!
