So, which route is following the Prophecy more?

  • The Pacifist/Spare Route
  • The Snowgrave/Weird Route

I dunno

Give the game a chapter more to play out, and we'll see

I don't really know myself, there are evidence for both but it would be way cooler if it was actually the snowgrave route. Like there's the "LOVE finds its way to the girl", and also the unused "Coldwater fell from the sky" panel (but maybe it's not canon exactly because it's unused? Idk really). There's also a book in my fav ROOTS room that's talking about something glass-like forming from water.

Like, we'll all be 80 years old when chapter 5 comes out at this point lol

"Coldwater" Likely is Canon, it's probably why it was removed

either of them as long as you get starwalker, he is very essential

I mean if you're 79 I guess that's true

Top 10 characters that could beat Rory Nyte:

  1. Star walker
  2. Gerson any version
  3. The Watercooler
  4. Nubert
  5. Rouxls when he locks tf in

But that whole year is gonna feel like 80 :anxious_face_with_sweat:

Personally, I think both are following the prophecy, with the caveat that the vessel being discarded broke the prophecy.. but this just means it’s fulfilled through different means [e.g. the ā€˜cage’ was originally meant to refer to the vessel, but now it refers to Kris]. I think the weird route breaks back to follow the original intent of the prophecy more. Consider ā€œLord of Screens, cleaved red by bladeā€. It shows the slash go across the monitor itself. Tenna was meant to die; while the words are fulfilled regardless of pacifism [even if he survives, he DID still get cleaved], the visual depiction makes clear he was meant to die, and in a violent route, he doth die. More drastically, I think the ā€œring of heaven’s callā€ may be intended to refer to the Thorn Ring [it inflicts Trance, after all], but outside the weird route it’ll probably be fulfilled in a much different manner.. perhaps something to do with the person Spamton was on the phone with.

Dialogue with Ralsei implies it’s the normal route, but done violently.

Probably both somehow, tricky Toby did that before with Undertale

This

starwalker

this is only true if youre violent in chapter 3, which is unnecessary for the weird route
you can be perfectly nice and nonviolent outside of the required stuff with noelle, you can even spare the chapter 2 guys after she leaves![1]
this is what i chose to do on my weird route save, so tenna is alive and well

  1. tasque manager, werewerewire, and mauswheel ā†©ļøŽ

honestly i find it a bit silly how people reduce the dichotomy to 'normal route and recruit everyone' vs 'weird route and fight everyone'
like, its actually more like this

recruit everyone recuit some recruit nobody
normal route obvious possible possible
aborted weird route x possible possible
weird route x possible obvious

except like, this table doesnt even include if you get the shadowcrystals, or the eggs, or at what point you abandon the weird route, or if berdlys arm gets fried at the end of ch2, or or or.....there are so many possible combinations of so many variables. maybe the prophecy is that you start the rudy sink bit but dont commit to it, who knows, lol

I guess Weird Route is the more accurate following

It's basically a restoration of Noelle as the second girl which she didn't get to be as Susie took her place, there are multiple allusions to the fact that it's Noelle that is that girl; she is shown with a sword and her mother has a katana while apart from Kris only Noelle can equip the Black Shard which is a sword type weapon; Ralsei says Susie is supposed to be able to equip ribbons what she always refuses and when Noelle comes Ralsei immediately says he knows which armor she can equip; she's shown with that heart too…

We've restored her… but at what cost

That’s not entirely why I brought up the ā€œLord of Screensā€ pane.

Consider the image vs the ā€œintentionā€ vs the text of the prophecy.

The image showeth Tenna being slashed across the monitor. This would ensure his death.

The image is never fulfilled. The fulfillment of the intention of his death, though, is up to how violent one is in Chapter 3. Meanwhile, the literal text is fulfilled no matter what.

Now consider ā€œThe Queen’s Chariot cannot be stoppedā€.

The image itself depicteth the car moving left. The intention seemeth to be about her car. The text itself is vague, though.

In the normal route, arguably neither the image nor the intention are fulfilled, with the car going right and being stopped by a traffic jam. However, it is still fulfilled, as the GIGA Queen is also a form of ā€œQueen’s Chariotā€, and it cannot be stopped. [Note that while it was temporarily defeated, it can seemingly regenerate, given how it’s fully active once more after Ralsei’s explanation of the Roaring.]
Meanwhile, in the weird route, Queen has left the mansion to search for Berdly. Given that the drive towards Queen’s mansion is to the right, such a search would have her driving to the left. Considering she left the mansion completely unguarded, it’s important enough that she would likely not stop for anything. Thus, not only is the original intent fulfilled, but so is the image.

Now consider the panel for the second hero. It showeth the figure with a sword.
Susie cannot equip swords, but Noelle can equip the Jingle Blade. Hence while the text itself is fulfilled no matter the route, the image may only be fulfillable in the weird route.

ohh ic
i actually went on about the 'the "lord of screens" prophecy picture thing doesnt match what happened to tenna' thing in some tumblr tags a while back, ill try and articulate my thoughts from there more coherently here

  • the text seems to describe tenna getting got. he is a lord, he is of screens, he gets cleaved by a blade with fancy red vfx

the picture though does not match how that went down. his screen was not cut diagonally down the middle, he got dismembered

  • the knights final attack ends in them splitting your computer screen diagonally down the middle, which does match that picture

but then the text doesnt match. the only lord of my computer screen is me, and as far as i am aware i have not been cleaved red by blade

  • no matter how you slice it, no event seems to have happened that matches both the picture and the text

  • but an event has happened that matches just the picture, and an event has happened that matches just the text

  • so maybe that counts as 'following the prophecy' on a kind of technicality, and the knight wants/has to do this for some reason

like, lord of screens has been cleaved red by blade; screen has been cut diagonally down the middle; the quota has been fulfilled

of course, why the knight would do this is kind of unclear, but we dont really know their motive yet, so you could say 'why the knight does this is kind of unclear' about plenty of things in the game lol

i do think your take is interesting too though
