Plants have been added as a classification of character, and along with the obvious 7 flowers, Floradinn has been given the classification, I believe due to the fact they have the PLANT element. Leafling also has this element and is also. A leaf.
Is it ok to add the classification to Leafling?

I think it was because of the "Floradinn mutters how it likes flowers" quote. But reading the recruit description now, "It thinks it's a flower and probably so does everyone else." sounds like we might have misclassified Floradinn.
Unless the main story makes it very clear that they are a representation of a plant from the Light World, I'm not sure if we should classify them as a plant. And also, Floradinns and Leaflings are recruitable, unlike all the other plants we know Ralsei/Flowery were referring to.

Great, so Floradinn is confirmed not a plant. But this thread is about Leafling, which looks like it's very much a plant. What's the evidence that the leaf enemy is not a leaf in the Light World?
If leaflings were plants and not darkners then they wouldn't be recruitable, just like the flowers can't be recruitable because of their special condition of not being (fully) darkners

Going with what everybody said. We can't know if Floradinn and Leafling fall under the "not quite a Darkner, not quite a Lightner" classification, and we should not speculate about it on the wiki. Better to go with what the game says and reserve the "Plant" page for the 7 Flowers.
We also include the cactus from Chapter 3 as a plant, and for good reason.
The issue with Leafling and Floradinn is that we don't know what they actually are in the Light World.
Isn't a fallen leaf an already dead part of a plant? If so then a Leafling probably can be classified as a darkner since it's more of an object than a leaving being.
