Silly thing that is maybe relevant to Netskie mentioning Kinoota in recruit info

While kitsune and tanuki are associated with each other a lot by default, I think it's relevant that by all accounts Netskie is a bonsai!

There's a deadwood bonsai technique referred to as 'tanuki bonsai', which is essentially attaching a live branch/tree to deadwood/in some cases driftwood. Also from what I understand tanuki bonsai are kinda controversial as 'not real bonsai' or something?

Also from this general logic, this may imply Netskie is specifically a livewood/ not deadwood bonsai, to contrast with Kinoota (who is 'mx not appearing in this videogame' for now.)

Apologies if this isn't a big enough thing to make a full discussion on to begin with, I just thought it was neat. :kriswiggle:

/edit:

Oh! From what I could find, tanuki bonsai are usually coniferous trees like pines and juniper, while we know from concept art that netskie is a deciduous tree bonsai :3

I am glad this was interesting at least!

I don't really have a lot to say about it other than this, outside of the fact that 'a type of bonsai that is a living plantner grafted to a 'dead' piece of wood (what would likely be a Darkner under many circumstances)' is a super interesting conceptual thing that further blurs the lines between Darkner and Lightner!

The tail is a Plantner, the body is a Darkner

why

This is what Kinoota looks like.
