Plants are living things. Does this make light world plants Lightners?

I honestly think it does. Plants as I said, are living things, and are far from inanimate objects.

We see plants becoming Darkners in Chapter 3

Plants are living, but they are inanimate.

Also, I think the thing that makes someone a Lightner is having a soul. Plants do not have souls.

While it should be fairly obvious that they're Darkners, the only current example of that, the Cactus provides just enough reason to question it.

Its reaction is closer to how a Lightner would react, calling the Dark World a dream, rather than acting like this is just its normal life like most Darkners do. It makes note of its appearance differing, while most Darkners normally don't. Both of these from its one and only line in the entire chapter, at that.

Even if Darkner would be a safe assumption, we have just enough reason to doubt it with what we currently know.

In the light world the cactus can't think anything
Clearly if the dark world changed its mind and body then it became a darkner
It's not like Asgore's flowers are just going to change color or something in the dark world and not become darkners
At that point it's just semantics and maybe weird memory things

The entire point of the dark world is perception and emotion and stuff
Plants barely have it
Maybe the things you're describing is because plants just barely have perception in the light world, they can sense and respond to some things

I don’t think so. Plants have no soul

Perhaps no SOUL, but whether they have a soul…

That is quite debatable, indeed.

I don’t think you should bring that up

I was talking to @sni[eronsunday.

Flowey is living despite being SOULless.

Flowey is a vessel hosting determination and conciousness.
A SOUL is different from an internal monolouge...
