Newsletter & Spamton Sweepstakes Silence update

Here’s a thread to discuss the new release time newsletter and the update to Spamton Sweepstakes that adds the Silence ending.

Here’s an overview of what happened:

  • Chapter 3&4 will release at midnight, Japan time. Therefore, it will release on June 4 for other regions whose timezones are behind Japan’s!
  • PlayStation and Switch support cross-buying for Deltarune (see newsletter for additional terms).
  • We got a reveal of some PlayStation trophies.
  • Spamton Sweepstakes Silence ending has finally been revealed, and with it a couple of new pages in the link maze! Most notably:

ITS RELEASING A DAY EARLY IN THE US?!?!?!?!!??

The newsletter also confirms that only the stuff in the game itself is canon.

As in… none of the Sweepstakes are canon?

…There goes a lot of what we thought we knew.

https://deltarune.com/lostwheretheforestwouldgrow/ not sure what this could mean. the tree also has the same texture as the ‘jockington grows the beard’ thing, so i feel like they’re somehow connected

JUST TAKE MY F@&#$*G MUNS TOBY

TAKE IT

TAKE IT ALREADY DAMMIT

I always consider canon to be a pretty high standard. Just because this isn’t canon doesn’t mean it isn’t true or relevant… it’s really saying that there might be minor discrepancies and all the important bits will probably be revealed again in the game proper for people who aren’t looking for content this die-hard. It’s still stuff written by Toby and meant to connect to the game in some way.

Of course silvagunner did this

I wish i could play deltarune

Hi galacta! I hope you get to play deltarune sometime

I would but i personally don’t like a game full of swears
That’s just me

Remembering what else Toby worked on… yep, you’re probably right. (It could be true and relevant, but not essential. …I can’t believe I’m referencing the Homestuck Epilogues, but Toby worked on Homestuck, and it’s the only thing tangentially related to Toby that explicitly defines the term “canon”, so it’s actually our best reference on his definition of canon. …Yes, our best reference for defining canon is actually Homestuck, and not even the main Homestuck, but the Epilogues. I wish I could find something more closely linked to Toby that defines canon so I don’t have to use the Homestuck Epilogues, but I don’t think I can. Let’s just hope the pillars of canon are easy to explain to someone who hasn’t read 8000 pages of a webcomic then went through an officially made sequel that’s diagetically a fanfic of that webcomic.)
