I have a theory. Having a SOUL is what affects if you transform in the dark world or if you (generally) keep your shape. This is also the same thing that affects being able to travel between the Light world and Dark worlds. This is why Spamton wants Kris’ Soul. Additionally, this is why only Kris can seal fountains, as they have two souls and the SOUL we control leaves Kris to do so. If Kris only had one soul, something would have happened to them as we seal the fountain. Also, according to this theory, the Knight only has part of a soul because they can transform and shapeshift in the dark world but can also travel between the light world and the dark world. Anyways, what do you guys think?

"Part of a soul" sounds like a hard thing to obtain. One would have to kill the host, wait until the soul splits in half, then absorb it before it shatters. (Assuming the in-game animation accurately represents what happens in-universe.)

First of all, who did the second soul come from, where did Gaster happen to get a specifically red soul
Second of all, why would Kris be weak and shaky when they remove their extra soul and have a normal amount, the game is clearly alluding that they have no soul when they remove the soul
Third of all, why does the voice on the phone warn Kris about having no soul in the dark world if they’ve never been without a soul in the entire game
Fourth of all, why does the game never try to tell us that they have two souls
