Hey guys! I found it rather strange nobody bothered to make discussion forums about Mew Mew Kissy Cutie! It’s one of my favorite anime out there, yet only the Undernet seems interested.
Usually shows with a protagonist with multiple ability types at once flop, but this one balanced Mew Mew’s wand with her kiss ability flawlessly! And the character dynamics lead to quite a lot of funny moments, and I’m not even getting into those mishaps from failed spells! It’s really no wonder it got a dating sim based off of it!

Actually fuck off. I’m so sick of you Mew Mew 1 fans who disregard the complex and mature story of Mew Mew 2. Mew Mew Kissy Cutie expected its audience to grow up alongside it. It’s not my fault you would rather watch Mew Mew play volleyball at the beach for the twelfth episode in a row instead of having to face reality like an adult. Seriously all you Kissy Cutie 1 fans need to grow the fuck up. I’m so sick of you.

Mew Mew 1 isn’t just “sparkling anime girl” like you seem to think. There’s complex social dynamics, Mew Mew herself having to deal with being ostracized her cat-ears, and not fitting in with humans! (So it tackles prejudice, something we need more awareness of, and also has a message on how real friends are the ones who put those aside. You’re not alone, there are allies! You just need to find them!) The negative ramifications of her mind control powers also gets explored around the finale, that she shouldn’t just use control people into fixing her problems, and everything gets wrapped up nicely where she learns a powerful lesson on…
It all ties together beatifically! But what does Mew Mew 2 do? Screw all that, screw all the lessons Mew Mew learned, IT’S TIME TO GO FULL DARK MODE and just start controlling people all over again! Whatever happened to Mew Mew’s character arc? Whatever happened to her learning to work problems out and that spamming her powers isn’t the right way to deal with things? Thrown in the incinerator, that’s what it did! It’s neither kissy nor cutie! And if it wants to call itself Mew Mew KISSY CUTIE 2, it needs to be kissy and cutie! That’s in the title of the show!!
Why do people like this trash? I used to think everyone praising Mew Mew 2 were corporate sponsors, but apparently real people actually like these terrible changes.

The writers of “MMKC2” should’ve just made their own show. If they wanted to make another Death Book, they should have just made another Death Book. Slapping Mew Mew onto this other show goes against everything Mew Mew 1 stood for. It might have been a good stand-alone series if they didn’t try to drag Mew Mew into this.
Either you make your dark story, or you make a Mew Mew sequel. Don’t try and mangle the two concepts together into an incoherent mess. MMKC2” just looks like they made their own original show, but then slapped on the Mew Mew branding, character names and designs because some executives wanted to make more money by targeting the large Mew Mew fandom at the time.
If you want an ACTUAL sequel to Mew Mew Kissy Cutie, check out the dating sim. It handles the concept of a sequel to the original show that much better. Yes, the dating sim actually goes past the finale of the show, just keep progressing, it gets a lot better, a lot faster. It doesn’t let you control people’s minds anymore but that’s because it’s after Mew Mew resolved to not use her powers that way.
MMKC2 fans probably never saw MMKC1 aside from a few memed clips so they didn’t notice all the full on contradictions to prior lore 2 caused.
We’re not saying you can’t write a story about cute characters with darker themes, but mew mew 2 is an example of how to not do it.
