It's sad that most people in the fanbase don't even know the etymology of the Weather Duo

Like genuinely
Without looking at their wiki page
Can the majority of people here confidently say why they're named like that?

Named after the El Nino and La Nina weather patterns, easy

Yeah
If you didn’t know that your a tupid
I slashed jay again Galacta I’m sorry I know he’s dead

It's a war crime to desecrate a corpse

I sowwy

I know, Vex.

El Nino and La Nina. And no, I didn't copy Galacta I just know that

Okay thank god more people than expected

Maybe I think too little of the fanbase

I looked at el and la and thought of my Duolingo lessons and thought "boy & girl"
Am I a [ :lollipop:]

I think it is a combination of that and the weather pattern names, so you are half correct

Saw a YT thumbnail on something about a devastating El Nina event happening soon but idk I didn't watch it

I also watched that! 3% of the population dying the last time that happened... jeez...

I had no clue until I read galacta’s reply

Im smart girl!

*Im smart girl!

I'm not sure but I think El Nina and La Nino stands for "the girl" and "the boy" in spanish (or was it portugese?) respectively
I might be wrong though

So La nina and el nino are spanish for the girl and the boy
and for some reason they named weather patterns that.
So the weather duo are a jumble of weatherterms

I didn't, it just sounded Spanish and I was like, "huh, I wonder how you pronounce that, wait aren't these guys weather dudes, what does that have to do with weather, oh well I guess I'll just keep fig- ROUXLS KAARD!??!?"

Probably the same people who started giving hurricanes human names

Sorrye, I just wanderedeth in here...
