Is this intentional?

So here is a screenshot of a quote markdown text:

An here is a screenshot of a thread which includes the counter of posts in the thread:

Is this supposed to happen? Has this been happening since the beginning? Is this a bug?

Yours is wrong

YOUR RONG

the counter in the thread goes by the topmost onscreen post, which will obviously be a lower number than the one you're quoting

but it says that there's no more than a maximun of 6662 posts

oh, i didn't notice that
that's a weird bug

yeah

Deleted posts. The reply number of a reply does not change if replies are deleted, though the displayed number of replies on the thread itself does.

If there are ten replies in a thread, and reply 9 gets deleted, the thread displays as having 9 replies, but reply 10, now reply 9 does not have its link changed to 9.

I barely understood that but I think I get the general gist of it.

So in other words the reply counter (the one in image) only counts replies visible, while the other one (the one in the other image of the markdown quote text) counts all replies ever replied in a thread, even if deleted

So like if there were 15 replies in a thread and one gets deleted, the reply counter (in image) would only count 14 replies, whereas the other reply counter (in other image of markdown text) counts 15
