Refer to the top post in this thread, which should give up-to-date information. It is currently not possible to annotate maps on mobile devices, unfortunately, so you will have to use a desktop/laptop computer.
If you want to create maps, I highly recommend you have Deltarune installed on your PC so you will have access to the game assets. For editing the room images, GIMP is a highly useful (and free!) tool to use.
I updated the top post now with the new things left to do. I highly recommend anyone interested in this project to join the Discord server so we can more easily coordinate efforts - under the #wiki-discussion channel there is an Interactive Maps Project thread where you can see progress and ask for help!
I added some annotations to the Garden and was unsure what category to put the watering can in, so I just put it under Items even though it's not one.
I think we need an "Objects category". For example, looking at the Castle Town chapter 5 map, things like the Cauldron, moss trophy, and Kris lamp are listed as NPCs despite obviously not talking. The Manual is also listed under Signs. The Objects category would be assigned to anything interactable that is not a character.
Yes, maps plural. Part of the reason why it was so hard to handle was because the map originally had both standard and Weird Route mashed together in the same image. This made it confusing for viewers trying to differentiate the two versions. Therefore, I made two separate maps for the two mutually exclusive routes.
The same will be done for Cyber City, but that's still a little ways off. Then, we can finally annotate that map properly as well.
Update: Cyber City maps have been completely redone and fully annotated. You can view these maps at the usual place, this time separated into a main map and the Weird Route version.
Hi. Considering that maps for Cliffs, Flower Castle and Top of Castle will be made eventually, I suggest we add a new category of markers: "Platforming interactables" or "Platforming objects" (or maybe a third better name, if someone comes up with it). These will include, as the name suggests, objects you can interact with in the platforming mode, such as bushes, fans, vines, things you can ACT on and other stuff. These markers 100% will have to be featured heavily in said future maps, so there has to be a separate category for them.
The only problem I see is that adding a maker for every single object might be too much, for example the row of bushes in the Glade's platforming tutorial room. I don't really know how to solve this issue, as adding a single marker for a group of objects that takes up a lot of space might be a bad solution.
Hi! Do you strictly need to ask permission before annotating a map? Or can you do it whenever you want and then just upload the new version to the wiki?
Okay, so I annotated most of the stuff that haven't been annotated yet in the Garden map, however due to the "platformingobjects" catgeory not existing yet I just tagged the objects related to it as items. If anyone plans on adding such category then please change it in the said map as well.
There may be some gramatical errors, thing I missed or small mistakes though... In that case, I'm really sorry and I'll try to fix all of them over time.
Annotating is actually way easier than I thought
You just download the app and then place markers and write text on them
CREATING maps though... I can't understand how does this work
I downloaded the mod tool and opened a few rooms but I have no idea what to do, partially because the tutorial specifically for creating is just too tiny.
So I'll leave it to someone else to create those maps and I'll annotate them when they're uploaded
