FNaF 4 starts it and details the Bite of '83, with the Crying Child, who gets harmlessly pranked by his brother Michael (trust) and gets shoved into the jaws of a spring lock Fredbear animatronic created by their father, William appleto- I mean, Afton, and his business partner Henry Emily. You play as Michael experiencing a nightmare presumably induced by his trauma and possibly punishment by William. After the bite, the Child's soul becomes bound to the Fredbear animatronic.

I don't quite remember when the missing children incident happened. I think the first one was around the events of 4? Either way, Fredbear's closes down. Wasn't there a second location before FNaF 4 and 2 where the MCI occured? Then the children are stuffed into the animatronics to hide them. Charlie Emily, Henry's daughter, dies after being left out in the rain. The Puppet goes outside to try and protect her, but Charlie was already dead. Then Charlie's soul becomes bound to the puppet, and the puppet goes and gives the missing children a will that lets them control the suits. After the MCI, the second location closes down, but in '87, a new location opens up, but it closes down soon after, presumably because of the bite of '87.
