You don’t actually need to do the welcome post. That’s just a link to let you know where to find it.
The thing you actually do need to do… well, Sansbot said you can learn more by bookmarking its thread. That’s how you progress. You don’t actually need to make posts anywhere outside the Sansbot PMs to progress. (The links are useful to learn how the site works, though.)
