Handling new chapter content

Hey all, as you know Deltarune is releasing in a few hours and I wanted to announce how will we be handling the content of new chapters.

Spoilers policy

Firstly, when posting to Discussions you are required to mark spoilers! You can mark spoilers by wrapping text in
...
tags. Like this.

Secondly, the wiki content itself does not have spoiler warnings and you are advised to proceed with caution - if looking at the recent changes you are almost certainly going to get spoiled on some content. If you want to disable the recent changes module in the sidebar while looking at other wiki content, hop to your preferences, uncheck "Recent Changes Module", then save.

If you do end up watching wiki activity, I ask you to please notify us of any disruptions immediately, either through the Discord server, by pinging @Deltarune Wiki Staff or through Discussions, by messaging the staff group.

How can you contribute

If you wish to contribute to the wiki, great! A bunch of skeleton articles will be created on the wiki upon the game's release, and you can help by filling them out with information! You can find the articles that need creation over at wanted pages, and articles that need expansion over at article stubs.

The main article categories that we have are:

 • Character articles
 • Item articles
 • Soundtrack articles
 • Location articles
 • Mechanic articles

Character and location articles are ones that require the most content, but you don't have to add them it at once! The wiki evolves gradually, and if just describing the personality of characters is your thing you can just fill out these sections. Character articles will most likely have some skeleton content that you can fill out, and they are usually the most popular articles so there will be many users editing them. Location articles aren't as popular, but you can start creating them as soon as you notice they are needed!

Item and soundtrack articles are usually short and to the point. If you prefer tackling shorter articles first, you can start from those! They should have most infobox information filled out by the time you get to them, but describing how you get the items, their special effects, where the tracks play and so cannot be done automatically, so there will definitely be some work over there! Just less work per page than for characters and locations.

Mechanic (gameplay mechanic and plot element) articles are best left for when we properly assess the overall chapter structure and see how important are certain mechanics to the game. For example, we don't know if POINTs will be important or just a side gag, so that article may be merged together with some other in the future.

If you discover the Chapter 3 or 4's secret route, please pick a name different from "Snowgrave Route" and we'll vote on the real name later. Weird Route could work as a placeholder, just make sure to put a {{for|the Chapter 2 route|Snowgrave Route}} at the top if you choose that.

On a high level, you can help by creating navigation links to the new pages, or to pages that should exist in the future. This includes:

I need help with wiki contribution

The best way to ask for help is the #wiki channel over at our Discord server! If you prefer on-wiki communication, you can start a topic in the Wiki Discussion board with your question.

If you're ever wondering what's the wiki's standard on something, we have the manual of style and page organization guide written down! But they are very long, and you don't need to read them all before contributing, because the first priority is to get the content out there, and we can fix it up to standards later.

Last words

It's been a long 4 years, but we're finally here. The next several weeks are going to be hectic, but they are also going to be a lot of fun and I wish everyone a happy Deltarune!

We should make spoiler tags... I know the Stardew Wiki made them for 1.6.

Looks like a spoiler.
I'm glad you deleted it.

How doI use a spoiler tag? I posted Pluey art but I screwed up the spoiler tag
[*/spoiler]
Like this but without the asterisk
Or you can click the little gear button and select “blur spoiler”

Thanks

A few other things that might be why the tag messes up.

The tag only works for one line at a time. So if you do a line break, the tag cuts off there.

This works out just fine…

And using a separate spoiler tag for each line makes this work fine as well…
But this doesn’t work.

The tag doesn’t see across multiple lines.
