I'm about to debate leitmotifs... Help me...
On this forum's favorite Leitmotifs page (both UT and DR wikis), there are multiple instances of a song saying that it has a motif "from 0:00." What does this mean? Is the entire song that motif? When does it stop?
Take "I guess I'm in love" for an example. Sure, it starts with the Friends motif, but halfway through it includes Don't Forget!
Anyway, what I'm proposing is that we don't write "from 0:00" for songs that are based around one motif, because they can still include others.
do you have any specific examples?
Maybe we can write “main motif?”
Why don't we just write where to the motif starts to where the motif ends as many times as needed like we do for other songs?
Only problem is I'm not a motif wizard and can't tell exactly where which motif is, I just know it's not entirely one motif
I think it's supposed to mean the the motif is present the entire song, like with northernlight the entire song has flashback from start to finish, with i guess i'm in love the friend motif does stop for a few seconds at some points (like 0:48)
My point is the "from 0:00" does have a purpose it might just be a bit overused
You have a good point, Flowery.
You could at least say "entire song" or "0:00-2:30"
"from 0:00" is too unspecific in my opinion
To me at least "from 0:00" does a good job at implying "at the start and never stops but "entire song" works just as well so if that's better for then you can change it
