Fake items should be removed from Template:Navbox_items in Deltarune Wiki

Deltarune has a clear item system accessed by an “ITEM” option. However, currently there are still something that actually do not belong to the item system in Template:Navbox_items: Blue Checkmark and 8-bit game items. Not only in mechanism they do not belong to the system, but also in concept they are not continuously held by the main characters.

Blue Checkmark: The page itself literally has admitted how ridiculous of considering Blue Checkmark as an item, “blue checkmarks do not physically appear in the inventory”, “they immediately shoot upwards into the sky” (not collected even in plot meaning), “They also lack the standard narration text that accompanies most collected items”.

8-bit game items: An extra navigation template and category could be created for them. Or they could be combined to one page like “The Legend of Tenna/Items”, as some pages like Mooncloud Stone are shorter than random NPCs’.

Just because they do not appear in the standard inventory does not mean they are “fake” items. The items you listed are still items in a conceptual sense, and it does not make sense to classify them separately when all that would do is introduce needless abstraction.

At the same time, we should probably introduce a new type to fit the Legend of Tenna items into. Probably “Board Item” or something, just to differentiate them from the rest.

I really don’t think the checksmarks can be grouped with other items. I’m not saying they should have their own category, I just think they should be removed from this one. What makes them items? That they come out of a chest? So does a water cooler

What else should they be categorized as? At least the blue checkmarks actually do something, unlike the Watercoolers, which are just gags.

They should probably just be mentioned on Hacker's page and not much else really

Fake item isn’t really the problem for Blue Checkmarks. I think it’s more of a practicality issue. Is it better as a standalone article, or have its info merged? People have searched a lot for them, so they’re definitely important, and they can be accidentally be skipped.

It being on Hacker’s article sounds good. It would make it something like Jevil ‘s article having info on the Broken Keys, but it brings a question if this should be a standard. It kinda detracts from the location articles a bit, but maybe linking back to certain sections helps…? Both Broken Keys and Blue Checkmarks have landmark screenshots on the respective locations.

It kinda feels like we might need more input on if it’s fine as-is, or if the info should be merged with Hacker’s. I’m sure Hacker’s article needs an update in some way anyways…

I mean, any references to the blue checkmarks can just link to Hacker (or the first reference, like how most wikis do it)

I’m talking about this, from Jevil’s article:

What I mean is that both Broken Keys and Blue Checkmarks are an optional sidequest. This is actually a leftover back on the fandom site before we forked too, and I remember fixing this in February 2022 so it would have links to certain sections of locations. Just not sure if this should be a standard.

Screw it

Should Blue Checkmarks be merged into Hacker?

Close enough ig

Blue check marks are not an item.

We can reclassify blue checkmarks as a gameplay mechanic. As for TLoT items, I don't see why we wouldn't consider them actual items.

Yeah
