There's two knights.
The roaring knight
and the other knight
The other knight opens the fountains
The roaring knight messes around in them, giving out shadow crystals and battling our heroes
But WHO are these miscreants?
We know that between the two of them, there is a connection to the mayor, the police, and the delta rune.
There are only TWO people that fit this.
The Mayor
And Asgore.
(Shut up I'm not desperate you're desperate)
Now apparently Asgore mentions having a shadow crystal. I dunno the full context of that, so it may break this theory but OH WELL.

Now, the knight we fight is almost definitely Carol. The antlers, the bat-like sword referencing her lost child, etc.
But there are TWO things that stand out to me.
Why does Carol want Toriel????
And WHY does the closet in chapter 2 says that it's possible for a large person to hide inside?!?!
Also how did Carol open a dark fountain in the CHURCH when she was probably inside with Noelle?
Well
These can be explained
If we assume Asgore is ALSO the knight.
He was outside when Carol was not, so he could have opened the church fountain.
The flavour text in ch2 implies that someone hid, waited until people came in, then opened the fountain.
Carol was in her office the whole time, so this would stop her from opening the fountain. And that wouldn't make sense, the knight we can fight is almost definitely Carol.
But Asgore could have hid in the closet.
People have argued against this point, saying that people would have mentioned to Kris if Asgore was in the library.
However, I can think of three possible reasons why they wouldn't.
- They know about the divorce and would feel awkward bringing it up
- Some people don't even know Kris and Asgore are related (example being the monster outside flower king)
- Or maybe literally nobody cares about Asgore
Okay that answers the flavour text and how there could be a fountain in the church.
As for why Carol would want Toriel...
Well I feel like that's just obvious.
Carol doesn't want Toriel, Asgore does.
He still wants her.
Also, this theory makes sense if we consider what we were told in chapter 4.
That dark fountains made by different people are different.
But if THAT were true, then how come the chapters 1,2 and 4 dark worlds aren't different colours from chapter 3?
They weren't made by the same person.
Well,
PERHAPS,
it's because the creators are related?
and maybe open the fountains for the same reason?
That's just guessing though.
And we mustn't forget...
