Stepping through the doorway was like exiting a dark world. The pale-from-dust rotting wood was gone, the ceaseless creak of the floorboards had vanished, and the vibrant sun shone in a sky that looked like it had been stolen from a children's book. Thick vines the shade of emerald wove between picket fences like waves in an ocean, and an endless crowd of people of all kinds was gathered, chatting about this and that. Some were cloaked, others seemed to be walking trees, and some looked like moving stones. Reuno brushed passed them all, leading him and weaving through the endless throes of people.
"WHAT IS THIS PLACE?" he asked above the ever-present sea of chatter and noise.
"This? It's a hub of sorts. People come from all around the world here before setting off again. Most people just use it to rest."
"IS IT...SAFE HERE?"
"Oh heavens no, not if you get in with the wrong people. Luckily, it's safe enough to walk through without risk of death."
"YOU SAY THAT LIKE DEATH IS EVERYDAY."
"...Well..."
Eventually, they came to a birch picnic table. By its side stood a slightly-tall person, not by any means standing out. They wore a mahogany coat, and held a bamboo cane in one hand. The single interesting thing about them was their head, which was apparently a CRT television.
"Hey, C!"
The individual turned slowly. Their glass face was blank, save for a multicolour line at its bottom, presumably a mouth.
"I t0ld y0u n0t t0 call me that. My name's sh0rt en0gh as is."
"UM. WHO IS THIS?"
Reuno sighed, and turned to the other person.
"Cath."
"And wh0's this?"
"W.D Gaster. He might very well be the one you're looking for."
"...I see. Which 0ne in particular?"
He looked between Reuno and Cath, slightly unnerved.
"EXCUSE ME, IS THERE SOME SORT OF PROBLEM?"
"N0t. At. All..."
"Alth0ugh, y0u'll need t0 c0me with me."
