Both sides have good points here; originally it was on Pluey but got moved to Cat Mike due to a lack of consensus. Cat Mike is the more "correct" name in-universe; it aligns with the other two Mike names, and Small Mike/Green Pippins even mentions this in Chapter 5.
However, Pluey is also what he wants to be called, and is used by two other characters, Tenna and a random Pippins. Also worth considering, though, is that this whole "Pluey" naming thing clearly is added due to the fandom arguments (like most things about the impersonators, it's a fandom reference), so it could be argued to be thus less important.
What do you all think? What should be his primary infobox & first word & title name?
In terms of usage, if anyone's interested, Cat Mike is used in two scenes: post-CH4 battle, Chapter 5 talk as a narration option, while Pluey is used in three scenes: CH5 both scenes, random Pippins line. In terms of word usage, Pluey is used much more, however, a good chunk of the usage is from the Green Pippins who calls Pluey the wrong name.
I think he should be called Pluey and the minigame should be called "Pluey (minigame)". Pluey is the most recent name and it is his own preferred name, therefore we should adhere to that.
I agree personally it should be Pluey, but it's not that simple, because in-universe "Cat Mike" is the more "correct" term and it is also consistent with the other two Mikes.
And the "Pluey" thing in itself is a reference to the fandom. I think despite this it should still be Pluey, but it's not super clear-cut, let's wait for admin thoughts.
I think the smartest move here is to leave it as "Cat Mike" to avoid much confusion. The article Pluey already has a hatnote directing to people to the character.
This is a good point. I think you could argue that Small Mike could be moved to Green Pippins too, since it's been officially used multiple times and is his non-title name.
That leaves Cowboy Hat Mike alone, though, and "Shadowguy (Mike impersonator)" would be a terrible title... so I'm not too sure. And before anyone asks, no, we can't use Jongler.
not the first time in a wiki where ive had to handle a character having two different names at the same time. i would argue that rn we should keep "cat mike" and if it sticks to ch6 we change it.
I agree with this. I think Pluey and Cat Mike are equally legitimate names for the character, but if we used Pluey to refer to both the character and the minigame that would be confusing.
This goes beyond the name on top of the page. That is the name that the wiki will use to refer to the minigame inside the article, including other articles that reference it. The parenthesis are omitted in this case.
If Pluey is the stated name, though, and the true birth name isn't shown (any names before the impersonation), players going on the wiki might be searching for "Pluey" far more than "Cat Mike", which is also just a title.
