I have been a little annoyed getting notifications on threads that are three months old, so can we get a rule where we can’t post on threads that have not been revived within the last five days?
Another suggestion is for there to be a three posts per 24 hours limit for one person so that we don’t see like ten posts from one dude at once.
Also in case if you’re wondering, these are rules from another wiki I’m on and they work really well, we have almost no spam or necroposting there.
(Tagging @KockaAdmiralac so he sees this and also because he’s the only mod I know)
There's a rule against low effort content. Did you want to report anyone in particular?
I wouldn't say 5 days, I'd say around 10 (also I'm sorry for necroposting, Im very stupid and don't check dates)
14 days sounds best here, but if you're really annoyed, you can disable receiving notifications from a post manually. The option is right under the reply button. Actually, I think the more reasonable path would be letting the poster of the thread revive it at any time, or even archiving it at any time.
I know I've done my fair share of necroposting, but it's mainly when I get a notification from other necroposters.
Actually, probably the most reasonable action would be having a preference in notifications that allows you to set when you want to automatically stop watching a post (after a certain point of inactivity; timer is reset after you view the thread)
I personally wouldn’t auto-close topics that haven’t received replies in a long time, because sometimes posts are about long-running projects, or the post is a question that the poster hasn’t received an answer to, or the post is an open-ended question where the author is fine with receiving replies months or years later. Applying a blanket timer across all discussions in all categories could cause some harm in that respect.
Optional auto-unfollow timer that can be turned on in preferences would be ideal, but I can’t find any such feature for the software we’re using. For now, it’d probably be best to manually unfollow the thread using the
button. If you find new replies on old threads that are off-topic, spammy or otherwise counterproductive, do report them to us so we can close the thread.
I have changed the limit to 5 new topics (previously 20) a day and 3 new personal messages (previously 20) per day. If someone hits these limits we can reconsider them.
Alright thanks, I guess that the necroposting thing is probably different on this wiki due to things relating to deltarune being a lot more long-running
